  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals ran their winning streak to five straight last Saturday, outlasting Gustavus 3-2 in yet another five-set marathon for Saint Mary's. … The Cardinals have not lost since opening the season with a 3-0 setback against Augsburg. Since then, Saint Mary's has defeated Concordia (3-1), St. Catherine (3-2), Bethel (3-2), Hamline (3-1), and Gustavus (3-2). … Last Saturday's win over Gustavus was Saint Mary's third five-set victory this season. … Linnaea Wallis (Dresser, Wis.) — coming off a career-high 30-kill effort against Hamline last Wednesday — delivered 19 kills against Gustavus last Saturday.  Coral Anderson (Rogers, Minn.) chipped in 15 kills. Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) equaled her career high with 47 assists, and DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) and Wallis delivered 27 and 26 digs, respectively. … Wallis' 19-kill, 26-dig effort against Gustavus last Saturday was her fifth straight double-double, while Schmidt added her second assist-dig double-double with 47 helpers and 12 digs. … Wallis' 30 kills against Hamline last Wednesday were not only a single-match career high, but also fell just one kill short of the program record for kills in a match, held by Brandi Blattner, who delivered 31 kills against Bethel on Oct. 21, 2016. … Schmidt has now recorded 40 or more assists in four straight matches. … Wallis enters Monday's match against Saint Benedict with a team-leading 105 kills and is hitting a team-best .268. Coral Anderson (Rogers, Minn. / 73 has also recorded more than 70 kills through six matches. … Schmidt has accounted for 226 of the Cardinals' 297 assists. … Saint Mary's has amassed 27 service aces this season, led by Wallis (7) and Rachel Kedl (Lamberton, Minn. / 6). … DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) is the team-leader in digs with 130, followed by Wallis with 108. … With her 39th dig on March 28, Baab reached the 1,000 career dig plateau. Baab is the 12th person in program history to reach 1,000 career digs and with 1,093 digs currently trails Anna Thibault '06 (1239) for No. 9 all-time. … The Cardinals are 4-1 in the fourth set this season, while winning all three fifth sets they have played. Saint Mary's has lost the first set in five of its six matches this season. … The Cardinals finished 15-13 a year ago — including a 5-6 showing in conference play. Saint Mary's has now finished 15-13 overall in back-to-back seasons.
  SAINT BENEDICT BENNIES SCOUTING REPORT
The Bennies head to Saint Mary's after dropping their first match of the season, falling to Bethel 3-0 last Wednesday. CSB's loss to the Royals snapped their season-opening three-match winning streak. … Madison Weiss recorded eight kills against the Royals last Wednesday, eclipsing the 1,000-kill mark for her career. Weiss is one of 15 players in program history to reach the 1,000-kill milestone – and one of just two to record more than 1,000 kills and 500 digs. She joins All-American Tina Kampa on that exclusive list with 526 blocks to go along with her 1,003 career kills. Weiss joins twin sister Hunter, who has more than 1,200 kills to her name, on CSB's 1,000-kill list. … The Weiss sisters are two of three Bennies with 30 or more kills through four matches. Hunter Weiss leads the  with 37, one more than Madison, while Emma Guest is third with 30. … Hunter Weiss is hitting a team-leading .344 (37-for-93) and is averaging 3.08 kills-per-set. … Katie Koch has handled the setting duties for the Bennies, collecting 126 of the team's 141 assists (10.50 aps). … CSB has recorded 21 service aces in four matches, led by Maurissa Isaacs and Bridget McDonald with six each. … CSB boasts four players with 40 or more digs — McDonald (60), Koch (46), Guest (43), and McDonald (41) — while Madison Weiss has amassed a team-leading 13 blocks. … After opening the season with three straight home matches, Monday's showdown at Saint Mary's is the Bennies' second straight road contest. … CSB's 27-25 loss in the first set against Bethel last Wednesday was the Bennies' first set loss of the season, having opened the year with three straight 3-0 victories.
