The Cardinals enter Wednesday's road match at St. Thomas boasting a 5-2 record — the most wins among conference teams this season. … The Cardinals had their five-match winning streak snapped with Monday's 3-0 loss to Saint Benedict. With two matches to play, Saint Mary's has sandwiched wins over Concordia (3-1), St. Catherine (3-2), Bethel (3-2), Hamline (3-1), and Gustavus (3-2) between 3-0 losses to Augsburg and Saint Benedict. … Last Saturday's win over Gustavus was Saint Mary's third five-set victory this season. … Linnaea Wallis (Dresser, Wis.) — the reigning MIAC Offensive Player of the Week — recorded 18 kills and added 12 digs in Monday's loss to Saint Benedict. It was Wallis' sixth straight double-double. … Wallis recorded a career-high 30-kill effort against Hamline on April 14. Wallis' 30 kills against Hamline were not only a single-match career high, but also fell just one kill short of the program record for kills in a match, held by Brandi Blattner, who delivered 31 kills against Bethel on Oct. 21, 2016. … Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) posted 35 assists in Monday's loss to Saint Benedict, snapping her string of 40-plus helpers at four straight matches. … Schmidt has recorded a career-high 47 assists twice this season — vs. St. Catherine on March 31 and against Gustavus on April 17. … Wallis enters Wednesday's match against St. Thomas with a team-leading 123 kills and is hitting a team-best .274. Wallis' 123 kills lead all conference performers, holding a 40-kill advantage over teammate Coral Anderson (Rogers, Minn.), who is second with 83 kills. … Schmidt has accounted for 262 of the Cardinals' 337 assists through seven matches. … Saint Mary's has amassed 31 service aces this season, led by Wallis (8) and Rachel Kedl (Lamberton, Minn. / 7). … DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) is the team-leader in digs with 151 — including five matches with 20 or more digs. … With her 39th dig on March 28, Baab reached the 1,000 career dig plateau. Baab is the 12th person in program history to reach 1,000 career digs and with 1,112 digs currently trails Anna Thibault '06 (1239) for No. 9 all-time. … The Cardinals are 4-1 in the fourth set this season, while winning all three fifth sets they have played. Saint Mary's has lost the first set in six of its seven matches this season. … The Cardinals finished 15-13 a year ago — including a 5-6 showing in conference play. Saint Mary's has now finished 15-13 overall in back-to-back seasons.
