  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals enter Friday's season-finale at St. Olaf boasting a 5-3 record — the most wins among conference teams this season. … The Cardinals had their five-match winning streak snapped with their 3-0 loss to Saint Benedict on April 19. Through their first seven matches, Saint Mary's has sandwiched wins over Concordia (3-1), St. Catherine (3-2), Bethel (3-2), Hamline (3-1), and Gustavus (3-2) between 3-0 losses to Augsburg and Saint Benedict, before falling for a second straight time against St. Thomas on April 21. … The Cardinals set a single-set program-record, scoring 38 points in a 38-36, opening-set win over St. Thomas on April 21. UST answered with three straight set wins to hand SMU a 3-1 setback. … Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) recorded a career-high 19 kills in SMU's 3-1 loss to St. Thomas on April 21. Linnaea Wallis (Dresser, Wis.) also recorded 19 kills against the Tommies, while Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) dished out 41 assists and DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) delivered 25 digs. … Wallis added 10 digs to her 19-kill effort against St. Thomas on April 21 for her seventh consecutive double-double, while McNally also had 10 digs en route to her third collegiate double-double. … Wallis recorded a career-high 30-kill effort against Hamline on April 14. Wallis' 30 kills against Hamline were not only a single-match career high, but also fell just one kill short of the program record for kills in a match, held by Brandi Blattner, who delivered 31 kills against Bethel on Oct. 21, 2016. … Schmidt, who has recorded a career-high 47 assists twice this season — vs. St. Catherine on March 31 and against Gustavus on April 17, has recorded 40 or more assists in five of the team's eight matches. … Wallis enters Friday's finale against St. Olaf with a team-leading 142 kills and is hitting a team-best .273. Wallis' 142 kills lead all conference performers. Coral Anderson (Rogers, Minn.) is second to Wallis with 88 kills, with McNally third with 76.  … Schmidt has accounted for 305 of the Cardinals' 389 assists through eight matches. … Saint Mary's has amassed 36 service aces this season, led by Rachel Kedl (Lamberton, Minn.) with 10 and Wallis with eight. … Baab is the team-leader in digs with 176 — including six matches with 20 or more digs. … With her 39th dig on March 28, Baab reached the 1,000 career dig plateau. Baab is the 12th person in program history to reach 1,000 career digs and with 1,137 digs currently trails Anna Thibault '06 (1239) for No. 9 all-time. … Three of the Cardinals' five wins this season have been 3-2, five-setters. … The Cardinals are 4-2 in the fourth set this season, while winning all three fifth sets they have played. Saint Mary's has lost the first set in six of its eight matches this season. … The Cardinals finished 15-13 a year ago — including a 5-6 showing in conference play. Saint Mary's has now finished 15-13 overall in back-to-back seasons.
  ST. OLAF SCOUTING REPORT
The Oles head into Friday's matchup against Saint Mary's having only played two matches this spring season — St. Olaf swept Hamline 3-0 on April 2, before falling to Bethel 3-2 on Wednesday. … The Oles boast four players with 20 or more kills through two matches — Nicole Banitt (24), Catherine Moore (20), Summer Reid (20), and Katelyn Lannom (20). … Along with her team-leading 24 kills, Banitt is also hitting a team-leading .468. … Lexi Wall has dished out 86 assists in two matches, accounting for all but 16 of the team's 102 assists this season.… St. Olaf has recorded 12 service aces In two matched, led by Lannom with five. … Wall owns a team-high 33 digs, one more than Selena Rodriguez, while Summer Reid (25) has also recorded 20-plus digs in St. Olaf's two matches. … The Oles closed out the 2019 season boasting a 26-6 overall record, including an 8-3 showing in conference play. St. Olaf lost to St. Thomas 3-1 in the MIAC Tournament title match, and fell to Northwestern 3-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. … St. Olaf's 26 victories were the program's most since the 2010 team that finished 31-5 and advanced to the NCAA Regional final.
