  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
Wednesday's match is the first home match of the season for the Cardinals, who went 5-5 on their home court in 2019. … The Cardinals picked up their second straight win last Wednesday, outlasting St. Catherine 3-2 — winning Set 4, 25-22, and Set 5, 15-10. … Coral Anderson (Rogers, Minn.) recorded a team-leading 20 kills, while Linnaea Wallis (Dresser, Wis.) chipped in 18 kills and 21 digs, and Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) added 10 kills. Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) posted 46 assists and 13 digs, and DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) posted 23 digs. … Anderson's 20 kills were a career-high, while Schmidt's career-bests in both assists and digs led to her first career double-double. … Anderson is the second Cardinal to post a single-match career-high of 10 or more kills this season. McNally notched a career-high 17 kills against Augsburg on March 27. … Wallis' double-double of 18 kills and 21 digs was her second in three matches this season, and the seventh of her collegiate career. … With her 39th dig on March 28, Baab reached the 1,000 career dig plateau. Baab is the 12th person in program history to reach 1,000 career digs and with 1,023 digs currently trails Diane Wood (1,062) for No. 11 all-time. … Anderson enters Wednesday's match vs. Bethel with a team-leading 37 kills, two more than both McNally and Wallis. … Schmidt (94) and Larkin Clem ( / 34) have accounted for 128 of the Cardinals' 142 assists through three matches. … Saint Mary's has amassed 16 service aces this season, led by Clem and Rachel Kedl (Lamberton, Minn.) with four each. … Baab is the team-leader in digs with 62, followed by Wallis with 49. … With their 3-2 win over St. Catherine last Wednesday, the Cardinals' three matches have decided in three sets (3-0 loss to Augsburg), four sets (3-1 win over Concordia), and five sets (3-2 win over St. Catherine). … The Cardinals finished 15-13 a year ago — including a 5-6 showing in conference play. Saint Mary's has now finished 15-13 overall in back-to-back seasons.
  BETHEL ROYALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Royals picked up their second straight win to open the season last Wednesday, knocking off St. Thomas 3-1 in the final meeting between the two schools. … Wednesday's matchup against Saint Mary's is the third — and final — road match of the season for the Royals, who close out their abbreviated 2021 schedule with five consecutive home matches. … Kirstin Cotter, who had a team-high 18 kills in last Wednesday's 3-1 win over St. Thomas, leads the Royals with 27 kills. Cotter is one of six BU players with 10 or more kills through two matches. … Hannah Wilhite and Ellie Hoyt have shared the setting duties for the Royals, dishing out 46 and 30 assists, respectively. … Hoyt has recorded five of BU's seven service aces through two matches. … Allie Fauth and Rylee Forshae are the Royals' digs leaders with 25 and 24 digs, respectively, followed by Selsie Sealock (18) and Danielle Friedges (17). … The Royals finished 17-11 overall in 2019, including placing 6-5 in conference play. BU made its sixth straight appearance in the MIAC Tournament, falling to No. 13 Saint Benedict in the opening round.
