  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
• STRONG FINISH: The Cardinals went 1-0-1 in their final two games of the season — both against Saint John's. SMU and SJU battled to a 0-0, double-overtime tie on April 21, before beating the Johnnies 2-1 in overtime four days later. …
• HONE AND AWAY: The Cardinals played three of their five games during the pandemic-shortened, fall-to-spring season on their home turf, going 1-2-0. SMU went 1-0-1 away from Ochrymowycz Field.
• FIRING BLANKS: Saint Mary's 0-0 tie with Saint John's was its first scoreless stalemate since drawing with Carleton 0-0 on Oct. 24, 2017.
• COLLEGIATE FIRSTS: Diego Rivera (Chicago, Ill.) and Cerim Palislamovic (Jacksonville, Fla.) scored Saint Mary's two goals in their 2-1 win over Saint John's on April 25 — with Palislamovic's game-winner coming 2:53 into overtime. The goals were both career-firsts.
• ON THE OFFENSIVE: Rivera, Palislamovic, Eli Szymanski (La Crosse, Wis.) and Wally Barros (Santa Maria da Boa Vista, Brazil) scored the Cardinals' four goals last season.
• LEADING THE CHARGE: Rivera had a hand in three of the four goals Saint Mary's scored last season — adding a pair of assists to his first collegiate goal — for a team-high four points, one more than Szymanski and Palislamovic.… Szymanski led the team in both attempts (16) and shots on goal (7).
• PK WIZARD: Szymanski's goal against Concordia on April 18 came on a penalty kick. The junior has accounted for the Cardinals' last four penalty kick goals over the past two seasons. • BETWEEN THE PIPES: Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) stopped all four Saint John's shots on April 21 en route to his first collegiate shutout. … Sessler — who stopped a career-high seven shots in his first collegiate start against St. Thomas on April 8 — locked up his first win as a Cardinal with a four-save effort in SMU's 2-1 win over Augsburg on April 11. … Sessler stopped 24 of the 32 shots he faced in starting all five games, compiling a 1.52 goals-against-average and a .750 save percentage.
• BY THE NUMBERS: Four of the Cardinals' five goals last season came in the second half, while their opponents netted four goals in the first half and four after the break. … Saint Mary's two wins — against both Augsburg and Saint John's — were 2-1 decisions. … Saint Mary's also played two exhibition games this season, battling both St. Scholastica and St. Olaf to 1-1 draws. … Saint Mary's 3-0 loss to St. Thomas on April 8 snapped the Cardinals' five-year, season-opening winning streak.
UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE SPARTANS SCOUTING REPORT
• TOUGH TO BEAT: The Spartans closed out their pandemic-shortened season with a near-perfect 6-1-1 overall record. UD's lone loss was a season-opening 2-0 loss to Simpson, while the Spartans' other blemish was a 1-1 tie against Loras.
• FIRING BLANKS: Four of UD's six wins last season were shutouts — 1-0 vs. Wartburg, 2-0 vs. Central-Iowa, 8-0 vs. Buena Vista, and 4-0 vs. Coe
• AS A TEAM: The Spartans scored 21 goals in eight games last season (2.63 gpg), while attempting 154 shots, including 77 on goal.
• OFFENSIVE LEADERS: The Spartans boasted five players who shared the team lead in goals with three each — Mathias Ericcson, Axel Aaman, Draek Littler, Glorie Luwara, and Lucas Von Braun. … Joel Johansson closed out the year with a team-best five assists, while Ericsson was the team-leader in points with nine.
• GAME-WINNER: Aaman netted two of UD's six game-winning goals, with Ericsson, Luweara, Von Braun, and Darren Gray accounting for the other four.
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Brandon White played every minute of the Spartans' eight games between the pipes last season, compiling a 0.72 goals-against-average and a .727 save percentage. … White stopped 16 of the 24 shots he faced a year ago and boasted four shutouts.
BY THE NUMBERS: UD outscored its opponents 21-6 last season. … The Spartans scored a season-high eight goals in their 8-0 win over Buena Vista on April 17. … UD allowed just two goals in its final four games combined, outscoring its opponents 17-2 during that four-game stretch. … Luwara posted single-game season-highs in goals (2) and points (4), and Johansson, Daniel Backai, and Alesandro Corazzna all had single-game season-highs in assists (2) in the Spartans' 2-0 win over Central on April 10.
