  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
• BACK-TO-BACK: The Cardinals picked up their second straight win on Monday, getting a pair of goals from Landon Pendleton (Mobile, Ala.) and erupting for four, second-half goals in cruising to a 5-0 win over Martin Luther.
• HOME SWEET HOME: With Mondays 5-0 win over Martin Luther, the Cardinals improved to 2-0-0 on their home field this season, having also defeated Edgewood (3-1) at Ochrymowycz Field earlier this year.
• PERFECTION: With their 5-0 win over Martin Luther on Monday, the Cardinals improved to 6-0-0 all-time against the Knights. Saint Mary's has outscored MLC 21-0 in its six meetings.
• OFFENSIVE RESURGENCE: The Cardinals scored as many goals against Martin Luther on Monday (5) as they had in all five of the games combined a year ago.
• CAREER FIRSTS: Pendleton, Roberto Bontempi, and Alex Keeler (Antioch, Ill.) all scored their first collegiate goals in the Cardinals' 5-0 win over Martin Luther Monday. … Pendleton netted a pair of goals vs. the Knights for his first career two-goal game. … Jack Hurley (Homewood, Ill.) scored his first collegiate goal in last Saturday's 3-1 win over Edgewood.
• CAREER FIRST, PART II: Jacob Wing (Verona, Wis.) earned his first career win — in his first collegiate start — in the Cardinals' 3-1 win over Edgewood last Saturday. Wing made two saves, with the lone goal coming on a penalty kick. … Wing and Connor Petrich () combined on a two-save shutout against Martin Luther Monday. Wing stopped both shots he faced in 71:38, while Petrich did not face a shot in 18:22 of relief.
• KING OF THE PK: Szymanski scored two of Saint Mary's three goals in last Saturday's win over Edgewood — both coming on penalty kicks. Szymanski has now scored Saint Mary's last six PK goals. With the two goals vs. Edgewood, Szymanski pushed his career total 16, ranking the senior ninth all-time.
• OFFENSIVE LEADERS: Szymanski and Pendleton share the team lead in goals with two each, while Szymanski also owns the team lead in points (5) and shares the team lead in assists (1).
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) matched his career-high with seven saves in last Wednesday's 3-0 loss to the University of Dubuque. Sessler also stopped seven shots in his first collegiate start against St. Thomas on April 8, 2021.…  Sessler stopped all four Saint John's shots on April 21, 2021 en route to his first collegiate shutout. … Sessler locked up his first win as a Cardinal with a four-save effort in SMU's 2-1 win over Augsburg on April 11, 2021.
• TAKING THE SHOT: Szymanski has attempted a team-high 10 shots, two more than Pendleton. Palislamovic, meanwhile, is the team-leader with six shots on goal, one more than Szymanski.
• SECOND HALF DOMINATION: The Cardinals have not allowed a second-half goal and hold a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal after the halftime intermission.
 SIMPSON STORM SCOUTING REPORT
• STREAK-SNAPPING: Simpson had its season-opening two-match winning streak come to a screeching halt, as the Storm dropped a 4-1 decision to Carleton Wednesday.
• FAMILIAR FOE: Saint Mary's is the third straight opponent from the MIAC for the Storm, who have already faced Hamline (W, 2-1) and Carleton (L, 4-1). Simpson will get another shot at Carleton when the teams square off again on Oct. 24.
• BACK HOME: After back-to-back road games at Hamline and at Carleton, Saturday's contest against Saint Mary's is the first of three straight home contests for the Storm.
• ON THE OFFENSIVE: Jordy Triana-Vasquez has been a scoring machine for Simpson this season, accounting for five of the team's nine goals. Baraka Ellie, who scored Simpson's lone goal against Carleton Wednesday, Enrique Idehen, and Andrew Russell own the Storm's other four goals. … Simpson's seven assists have come from six different players, led by Triana-Vasquez with two. Triana-Vasquez also leads the team with 12 points.
• UNSTOPPABLE: Triana-Vasquez had a hand in five of Simpson's six goals in its 6-1 win over Augustana on Sept. 1, scoring four times and assisting on another.
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: William Knopp has started all three games in goal for the Storm, compiling a 1.98 goals-against-average and a .545 save percentage. Knopp has stopped six of the 11 shots he's faced. … Simon Van Den Abberle played the second half against Carleton Wednesday, allowing one goal in 45 minutes in his first appearance of the season.
• AS A TEAM: Simpson has scored nine goals and added seven assists for 25 points in three games. After scoring eight goals in their two wins over Augustana and Hamline, the Storm were held to a season-low one goal against Carleton. … Simpson's 2-1 win over Hamline on Sept. 4 was its first overtime game of the season.
