  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
• FAST START, SLOW FINISH: The Cardinals kicked off the UW-Stevens Point Invitational on a high note last weekend, beating Beloit 3-0, before falling to Marian (3-2) and UW-Stevens Point (3-0) in the final two matches of the two-day competition.
• LEADING THE CHARGE: Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) finished with a team-leading 55 kills in the Cardinals' four matches last week, while Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) dished out 66 assists and DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) added 42 digs last week.
• ROAD WARRIORS: Wednesday's match at Carleton is the eighth of 16 straight road matches for the Cardinals, who do not play their first home contest until Oct. 1, when they host St. Scholastica in a 7 p.m. contest at the SMU Gym.
• CAREER PERFORMANCES: Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) — who posted then-career-high 20-kill performances twice last weekend — notching a new career-high with 25 kills against UW-Stout on Wednesday. … Faith Van Erp (Sartell, Minn.) delivered a career-high 19 kills in the Cardinals' 3-2 loss to Marian last Saturday.
• DOUBLE-DOUBLES: McNally and Schmidt own the team's four double-doubles this season. McNally delivered a 20-kill, 10-dig performance against Edgewood on Sept. 3 and added a 14-kill, 12-dig showing against Marian last Saturday. Schmidt, meanwhile, posted a 13-assist, 10-dig showing against Wartburg on Sept. 4 and notched a 29-assist, 10-dig effort against Marian last Saturday.
• ON THE ATTACK: McNally has recorded at least 10 kills in six of the team's eight matches this season — including three matches of 20 of more kills — and enters Wednesday's match at Carleton with a team-best 123 kills, while hitting .231. Braidyn Ruetten (Holmen, Wis.) is second on the team in kills with 54, followed by Van Erp with 46 and Elise Amerongen (Lake Elmo, Minn.) with 33.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Schmidt and Larkin Clem (Elk River, Minn.) have shared the setting duties this season. Schmidt owns a team-leading 157 helpers, while Clem has tallied 89. … With her 29 assists vs. Marian last Saturday, Schmidt has delivered 20 or more assists in five of the team's eight matches — including a season-high 31 against Edgewood last Friday.
• DIGGING IT: DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) has led the team in digs in seven of the team's eight matches this season, including a season-high 25-dig effort in SMU's season-opening 3-1 win over Luther. With her 113 digs through eight matches, Baab pushed her career total to 1,261, leaving her just eight digs shy of Amanda Edmond '00 for eighth all time.
• SERVING UP ACES: Clem pushed her team-leading service ace total to 14 with five aces last week. Schmidt is second on the team in aces with 12, three in front of McNally.
• QUICK STARTERS: The Cardinals have won the opening set in five of their eight matches this season — going 2-1 in those three contests.
• GOING.THE DISTANCE: The Cardinals played their first five-set match of the season last Saturday, falling to Marian 3-2. The Sabres rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat SMU, winning the fourth set 25-17 and the fifth 15-11.
• FOURS ARE WILD: Three of Saint Mary's eight matches this season have been decided in four sets. Saint Mary's beat UW-Stout 3-1, while falling to Edgewood and Milwaukee School of Engineering by the same 3-1 count.
CARLETON KNIGHTS SCOUTING REPORT
• FINISHING STRONG: The Knights went 1-2 at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational last weekend, rebounding from 3-1 and 3-2 losses to Marian and UM-Morris, respectively, with a 3-1 victory over Beloit.
• FINALLY HOME: Wednesday's match against Saint Mary's is the first home match of the season for the Knights, who have played their first nine contests away from West Gym. Carleton is 2-2 in road matches and 1-4 in neutral-site contests.
• LEADING THE ATTACK: Annelise Sokolow owns a team-leading 99 kills through nine matches (3.00 kps), while also hitting .126. Sokolow is one of three Carleton players with 50 of more kills, being joined by Grace Perret (78) and Jancyn Appel (54). … Sokolow, Appel, and Grace de Benedetti have all recorded season-high 15-kill performances this season.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Inger Shelton has amassed 291 of the Knights' 325 assists this season. Shelton has recorded 20 or more helpers in all nine matches — including five matches wit h30 or more assists. Shelton dished out 46 assists against UM-Morris on Sept. 10, and tallied a season-high 47-assist night vs. Luther on Sept. 3.
• SERVING IT UP: Sokolow has delivered a team-high 20 service aces, while Perret is second with 12. The Carleton duo has accounted for 32 of the team's 66 aces through nine matches.
• CAN YOU DIG IT: Carleton boasts four players with 60 or more digs this season, led by Kennedy Bombei with 119. Sokolow (74), Perret (69), and Shelton (65) have also recorded more than 60 digs.
• ROAD BLOCK: Appel is the team-leader in blocks with 19 (11 solo, 8 assist), followed by Sokolow (13), Niaya Karl (11), and Perret (10).
• AS A TEAM: Carleton owns 351 kills (10.6 kps), 325 assists (9.8 aps), 66 aces (2.0 aps), and 412 digs (14.5 dpg). … Two of the Knights' three wins have come in four sets. Carleton is 3-1 in three-set matches, 2-2 in four-setters, and 0-1 in matches extended to a fifth set.
