  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals enter this weekend's matches with a 4-5 overall record, including a 1-0 mark in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
• OPENER TO REMEMBER: The Cardinals kicked off conference play in memorable fashion, getting 32 kills from Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) and rallying from a 2-1 deficit to beat Carleton 3-2 Wednesday in Northfield, Minn.
• BEST-EVER: McNally's 32 kills against Carleton Wednesday were not only a career-high, but also a single-match, program record, breaking the previous mark of 31, set by Brandi Blattner on Oct. 21, 2016.
• CAREER PERFORMANCES: Along with McNally's career-high 32 kills, Braidyn Ruetten (Holmen, Wis.) chipped in her best night as a Cardinal against Carleton, delivering 15 kills, while Larkin Clem (Elk River, Minn.) posted career-highs in both assists (30) and digs (10) en route to her first collegiate double-double. … Faith Van Erp (Sartell, Minn.) delivered a career-high 19 kills in the Cardinals' 3-2 loss to Marian last Saturday.
• DOUBLE-DOUBLES: McNally joined Clem in the double-double category against Carleton Wednesday, adding 12 digs to her record-setting 32 kills. … McNally now leads the team with three double-doubles, followed by Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) with two and Clem with one.
• ON THE ATTACK: McNally has recorded at least 10 kills in seven of the team's nine matches this season — including four matches of 20 of more kills — and enters this weekend's matches with a team-best 155 kills, while hitting .231. Ruetten is second on the team in kills with 69, followed by Van Erp with 58 and Elise Amerongen (Lake Elmo, Minn.) with 33.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Schmidt and Clem have shared the setting duties this season. Schmidt owns a team-leading 185 helpers, while Clem has tallied 119. … With her 28 assists vs. Carleton Wednesday, Schmidt has delivered 20 or more assists in six of the team's nine matches — including a season-high 31 against Edgewood on Sept. 3.
• DIGGING IT: Hannah Skroch (Savage, Minn.) posted a team-best 13 digs against Carleton Wednesday, matching her season-high. … DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.), who has led the team in digs in seven of SMU's nine matches — including a season-high 25-dig effort in SMU's season-opening 3-1 win over Luther — leads the team with 122 digs. With her nine digs against Carleton, Baab pushed her career total to 1,270, ranking eighth ninth all-time, just 21 digs shy of No. 7 Morgan Thomas '16.
• SERVING UP ACES: Clem pushed her team-leading service ace total to 16 with a pair of aces against Carleton Wednesday. Schmidt is second on the team in aces with 14, four in front of McNally.
• GOING.THE DISTANCE: The Cardinals' 3-2 win over Carleton Wednesday was its second five-set match of the season. SMU was also extended to a fifth set in beating Marian 3-2 on Sept. 11. Saint Mary's is 2-2 in three-set matches, while going 1-2 in matches decided in four sets.
• ROAD WARRIORS: Wednesday's match at Carleton was the eighth of 16 straight road matches for the Cardinals, who do not play their first home contest until Oct. 1, when they host St. Scholastica in a 7 p.m. contest at the SMU Gym.
 U. OF DUBUQUE SPARTANS  SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: Dubuque enters tournament play this weekend with a 3-7 record, including an 0-1 mark in American Rivers Conference play.
• LAST ACTION: The Spartans enter this weekend's action on the heels of a 3-0 loss to Loras on Wednesday in the team's ARC opener. Darby Hawtrey finished with a team-leading nine kills in the loss.
• IN A FUNK: Dubuque's loss to Loras pushed is season-high losing streak to five straight. After opening the season with three wins in their first five contests the Spartans have fallen to UW-La Crosse, Northwestern, St. Olaf, Augsburg, and Loras.
MIAC FOE: Saint Mary's is the third opponent from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, having already lost to Augsburg (3-0) and St. Olaf (3-2). UD gets another shot at St. Olaf this weekend.
• ON THE ATTACK: Hawley and Emma Powell have been the Spartans' 1-2 offensive punch this season, with Hawley recording a team-high 100 kills, 10 more than Powell. … Hawley owns five matches with 10 or more kills, including a season-high 17-kill performance against St. Olaf on Sept. 11, and three straight 15-kill matches to kick off the season.
• LENDING A HAND: Kate Messino and Kaylynn Murray have shared the setting detail for the Spartans, with Messino dishing out 142 helpers, followed by Murray with 119. … Messino has recorded 10 or more assists in eight of the team's nine matches — including a season-high 38-assist effort against Elmhurst on Sept. 4. Murray, meanwhile, owns 10 or more assists in seven of nine contests and posted a season-best 24-assist effort against St. Olaf on Sept. 11.
ª HITTING THE CENTURY MARK: Dubuque boasts two players who have recorded 100 or more digs through nine matches — Katie Wright (135) and Powell (108). Wright owns a pair of season-high 25-dig performances against UW-La Crosse on Sept. 10 and vs. Loras five days later.
• ACING IT: Powell and Hawley have each served up a team-high 10 aces. The duo have accounted for 20 of UD's 50 aces through nine matches.
 WESTMINSTER BLUEJAYS SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: Westminster heads to Dubuque, Iowa, sporting a 2-5 overall mark, including an 0-1 slate in St Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLICA).
• LAST ACTION: The Blue Jays came up empty in their SLIAC opener on Wednesday, falling to Greenville (Ill.) 3-0. Haley Menke finished with a team-high eight kills and Gretchen Durbala finished with a team high 23 assists.
• ON THE SKIDS: Westminster enters the weekend in the midst of a three-match losing streak. The Blue Jays opened the year with wins in two of their first four matches, before dropping consecutive contests to Rhodes (3-2), Texas Lutheran (3-1) and Greenville (3-0).
• ON THE ATTACK: Eryka Wanyonyi and Menke are the team's offensive leaders, combining for 193 of the Blue Jays' 290 kills. Wanyonyi has amassed a team-leading 106 kills through seven matches, with Menke close behind with 87. Wanyonyi has recorded 10 or more kills five times — including a season-high 30-kill showing against Austin on Sept. 10. Menke, meanwhile, has four matches with 10 or more kills, highlighted by a 20-kill effort against Austin on Sept. 10.
• PICKING UP THE ASSIST: Gretchen Durbala has been an assist machine for Westminster, dishing out 229 of the team's 261 helpers. Durbala has recorded at least 17 assists in all seven matches this season, including five matches with 30 or more assists. Durbala posted a season-high 49-assist performance against Austin on Sept. 10.
• DIGGING IN: Erica Schrader heads into the weekend with a team-leading 113 digs, with Wanyonyi sitting second, one dig shy of the century mark. Schrader put together a season-best 25 digs against Austin on Sept. 10 and has posted at least 10 digs in all seven of the Blue Jays' matches.
• DOUBLING UP: Wanyonyi had her streak of five straight kill-dig double-doubles snapped against Greenville on Wednesday, being held to seven kills and five digs in the three-set loss.
• UNTOUCHABLE: Wanyonyi leads Westminster with 13 aces, one more than Durbala. The duo have accounted for 25 of the Blue Jays' 49 aces this season.
• GOING THE DISTANCE: Four of Westminster's seven matches this season have been decided in five sets — including both of Westminster's wins. The Blue Jays beat Stephens 3-2 on Sept. 7 and topping Austin by the same count three days later. On the flip side, Westminster has dropped 3-2 decisions to both Huntingdon and Rhodes.
LORAS DUHAWKS SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: The Duhawks enter this weekend's matches red=hot, having won seven of their first eight matches, including a 3-0 sweep of the University of Dubuque to open American Rivers Conference play on Wednesday.
• LAST ACTION: The Duhawks ran their winning streak to four straight with their 3-0 conference-opening win over Dubuque Wednesday. Lyndsi Wilgenbusch and Liz Fleckenstein each recorded 12 kills and Sara Hoskins collected 33 of the team's 35 assists in Loras' sweep of the Spartans.
• ON THE ATTACK: With her 12 kills against Dubuque Wednesday, Wilgenbusch eclipsed the century mark, giving her a team-leading 118 kills and a team-best .238 attack percentage  heading into the weekend. Fleckenstein is close behind, owning 93 kills, while hitting .187. … Wilgenbusch has recorded 10 or more kills in all eight matches this season, including a season-high 21 against Marian on Sept. 4. Fleckenstein, meanwhile, has five matches of 10 or more kills, highlighted by a 15-kill showing against Marian on Sept. 4.
• QUEEN OF THE ASSIST: Hoskins has amassed 278 assists, averaging 8.97 assists-per-set through the Duhawks' first eight matches. Hoskins, who has accounted for all but 56 of the team's assists this season, owns seven matches of 30 or more assists, including 41 against Augustana (Ill.) on Sept. 10 and a season-high 47 vs. Marian on Sept. 4.
• DOUBLING UP: Hoskins picked up her sixth assist-dig double-double against Dubuque on Wednesday, dishing out 36 assists and adding 15 digs.
• DIGGING IN: Loras boasts three players who have recorded 100 or more digs this season, led by Krystal Tranel with 157. Moira Mixan (118) and Hoskins (100) are also members of Loras' 100-dig club. … Tranel posted a season-high 34 digs against UW-Platteville on Sept. 1.
• THREE OF A KIND: Mixan, Sam Stoffregen, and Cat Gleason have combined to account for 36 of the team's 54 service aces. Mixan leads the way with 14, three in front of both Stoffregen and Gleason.
• QUICK WORKERS: Three of Loras' seven wins have been 3-0 sweeps. The Duhawks also own two four-set victories and two five-setters. Loras' lone loss, which snapped a season-opening three-match winning streak, was a 3-1 setback to Carthage on Sept. 4.
