• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals head into their conference matchup against Augsburg sitting at 4-7 on the season, while sporting a 3-5 mark in conference play.

• LAST ACTION: The Cardinals erupted for 34 second-quarter points and never took their foot off the accelerator, rolling to a lopsided 85-58 conference win over Carleton at the Saint Mary’s Gym Saturday.

• HOME COOKING: Monday’s game against Augsburg is the second of three straight home games for the Cardinals, who are in the midst of playing five of six contests on their home court.

• BEST 10 MINUTES: The Cardinals’ 34-point second quarter was its highest single-quarter performance since the NCAA went back to the quarter system prior to the 2015-16 season.

• SEASON-BEST X 3: Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.) scored a team- and game-high 24 points in the Cardinals’ 85-58 win over Carleton on Saturday. It marked the third time this season the senior sharp-shooter has recorded 24 points in a game — having also netted 24 against St. Olaf on Dec. 8 and Hamline on Nov. 23. … Paulson has now scored 20 or more points four times this season, adding a 20-point effort against Macalester on Nov. 20 to her three 24-point performances.

• LEADING THE CHARGE: Paulson enters Monday’s home showdown with Augsburg averaging a team- and conference-leading 18.1 ppg scoring average. Ashley Streveler (Colby, Wis.) — who netted 15 points against Carleton Saturday — is second, averaging 9.1 ppg, followed by Jada Biermeier (Eau Claire, Wis.) at 8.6 rpg and Izzy Goettelman (Winona, Minn.) at 8.5 ppg. … 

Paulson has led or shared the team lead in scoring in 10 of the Cardinals 11 games — including each of the last nine.

• DOUBLING UP: Paulson’s 24-point, 12-rebound effort against Hamline on Nov. 23 was her first double-double of the season. Paulson posted her first collegiate double-double — also against Hamline — with 13 points and 11 rebounds on Feb. 27, 2021.

• CAREER HIGHS: Saint Mary’s has had five players record career-highs of 10 or more points in a game this season, including four — Biermeier (19), Streveler (18), Valerie Higgins (Sioux Falls, S.D. / 13), and Alyssa Coleman (Matteson, Ill. / 12) —  in the Cardinals’ 80-74 win over Martin Luther on Nov. 15. … Goettelman poured in a career-best 13 points against Hamline on Nov. 23 and Macey Petron (Royalton, Minn.) delivered a career-high 11 vs. Luther on Sunday. … Paulson also had a career night against the Pipers on Nov. 23 with 12 rebounds.

• HITTING THE BOARDS: Along with her team-leading 18,1 ppg scoring average, Paulson is also the team’s leader in rebounds with 72 (6.5 rpg), followed by Biermeier with 49 (4.9 rpg). … Paulson’s career-high 12-rebound showing against Hamline on Nov. 23 were the most in a game since Rachel Kedl recorded 16 boards against Hamline on Jan. 11, 2020.

• FROM DOWNTOWN: The Cardinals rained in a season-high 12 3-pointers in Saturday’s win over Carleton. It was the most 3-pointers in a game since netting 12 against Hamline on Jan. 11, 2020, and the third time this season SMU has hit 10 or more treys in a game. … Paulson leads the team with 25 3-pointers, while Streveler is second with 22. Streveler hit five 3-pointers en route to her 15 points against Carleton on Saturday.

• FREE POINTS: Biermeier knocked down a season- and career-high 10 free throws on 12 attempts against Martin Luther on Nov. 15. The 10 made free throws were the most by a Cardinal since Shayley Vesel went 10-for-13 from the charity stripe against Augsburg on Feb. 5, 2020. … Saint Mary’s 28 made free throws against Martin Luther on Nov. 15 were the most since netting 32 against Bethel on Feb. 27, 2014, while the Cardinals’ 35 free throws attempted were the most since attempting 35 vs. Macalester on Feb. 10, 2018.

• THREE’S COMPANY: Paulson, Goettelman, and Streveler accounted for 38 of the Cardinals’ 51 points in the Cardinals’ 65-51 loss to Bethel on Dec. 11 — including all 27 SMU points in the first half.

• AS A TEAM: The Cardinals are shooting 34.7 percent from the field (224-for-646), with 77 3-pointers, and are 172 of 236 (72.9 percent) from the free throw line. The Cardinals 72.9 percent accuracy from the line is second in the MIAC. … SMU is averaging 63.4 ppg, while the Cardinals’ opponents are scoring at a 68.5 ppg clip. … Saint Mary’s finished with a season-high 71 field goal attempts in its 72-63 loss to St. Olaf on Dec. 8.

• WORKING OVERTIME: Saint Mary’s 75-71 loss to Hamline on Nov. 23 was its first overtime game of the season. The Cardinals played a single-season, program-record four overtime games during the 2019-20 season, including three that were decided by two points.

• RAINING IN POINTS: The Cardinals’ 85-point effort in Saturday’s 85-58 win over Carleton were a season-high, and marked the second time this season SMU has netted 80 or more points in a game — having also tallied 80 in beating Martin Luther 80-74 on Nov. 15. … SMU’s 85 points are the most in a game since scoring 85 points an 87-85 overtime loss to Hamline on Jan. 11, 2020.

• MAC ATTACK: The Cardinals’ 63-58 win over Macalester on Nov. 20 was the 19th win against the Scots in their previous 20 meetings.

• FOR THE RECORD: The Auggies head into Monday’s matchup against Saint Mary’s sitting atop the conference standings at 8-0 (including one forfeit win), while boasting a 7-3 overall record

• LAST ACTION: The Auggies got 20 points from both Jen Masello and Anja Smith, as Augsburg remained perfect in conference play with a convincing 69-55 win over Macalester Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn.

• ROAD RARITY: Monday’s game against Saint Mary’s is just the second road game in the seven-game for the Auggies, are back home on Wednesday to host Concordia. Augsburg is 3-1 on their home court, while going 4-2 away from Si Melby Hall in Minneapolis, Minn. 

• STREAKING ALONG: After opening the season with three straight losses to Bethany Lutheran University of Chicago, and UW-River Falls, the Auggies have posted seven straight wins (eight including last Wednesday’s forfeit victory over St. Catherine).

• OFFENSIVE LEADERS: The Auggies head to the Saint Mary’s Gym boasting four players who are averaging in double figures in scoring — Smith (17.4 ppg), Masello (16.2 ppg), Jaley Coplin (10.9 ppg), and Kalena Myers (10.6 ppg).

• PUTTING UP POINTS: Masello owns eight games with 10 or more points, and has netted 20+ three times — scoring 20 vs. Macalester, 23 against St. Scholastica, and a season-best 29 vs. UW-River Falls. … Smith, meanwhile, has scored 10 or more points in five games she’s played — including a 20-point effort against Macalester and a season-high 23-point showing vs. Carleton. … All told, Augsburg has had a player score 20 or more points eight times this season.

• HITTING THE GLASS: Along with her 16.2 ppg scoring average, Masello has hauled in a team-leading 102 rebounds (10.2 rpg), more than 60 more than Coplin, who is second on the team with 39 boards (4.3 rpg). … Masello’s 102 rebounds are not only a team-high, but also rank her No. 2 in the MIAC, behind Macalester’s Emma LaFrenz’s 132 rebounds. … Masello has recorded 13 or more rebounds in a game three times — including a season-high 14 against Macalester on Saturday.

• DOUBLING UP: Augsburg has had a player record a double-double six times this season — Masello has accounted for five, while Smith owns the other.

• LENDING A HAND: The Auggies boast five players who have recorded 10 or more assists this season, led by Selena Lor with 27 and Kalena Myers with 19. Masello and Katie Manecke have each dished out 16 helpers, while Grace Eastman owns 12.

• STRIKING FROM DOWNTOWN: Coplin has poured in a team-leading 19 3-pointers, followed by Lor with 15 and Myers with 14. The Auggies, who as a team have recorded 63 3-pointers, have gotten at least one try from eight different players.

• AS A TEAM: The Auggies enter Monday’s matchup shooting 41.4 percent from the field (248-for-599) with 63 3-pointers and are 91-for-147 (61.9 percent) from the free throw line. … Augsburg is averaging 63.5 ppg, while its opposition is scoring at a 58.9 ppg clip. … The Auggies have scored 70 or more points three times, including a season-high 82-point effort in beating St. Scholastica 82-55 on Dec. 1.
