• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals head into their conference matchup against St. Catherine sitting at 4-8 on the season, while sporting a 3-6 mark in conference play.

• LAST ACTION: The Cardinals got a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double from Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.), but could not keep pace with Augsburg down the stretch in falling to the league-leading Auggies 56-49 at the Saint Mary’s Gym Monday.

• HOME COOKING: Wednesday’s game against St. Catherine is the third straight home game for the Cardinals, who are in the midst of playing seven of nine contests on their home court.

• LEADING THE CHARGE: Paulson enters Wednesday’s home showdown with St. Catherine averaging a team- and conference-leading 17.8 ppg scoring average. Jada Biermeier (Eau Claire, Wis.) — who also finished in double figures against Augsburg on Monday, netting 12 points — is second with an 8.9 ppg average, followed by Izzy Goettelman (Winona, Minn. / 8.5 ppg) and Ashley Streveler (Colby, Wis. / 8.4 ppg). … Paulson has led or shared the team lead in scoring in 11 of the Cardinals’ 12 games — including each of the last 10.

• SEASON-BEST X 3: Paulson scored a team- and game-high 24 points in the Cardinals’ 85-58 win over Carleton last Saturday. It marked the third time this season the senior sharp-shooter has recorded 24 points in a game — having also netted 24 against St. Olaf on Dec. 8 and Hamline on Nov. 23. … Paulson has now scored 20 or more points four times this season, adding a 20-point effort against Macalester on Nov. 20 to her three 24-point performances.

• DOUBLING UP: Paulson’s 15-point, 10-rebound performance against Augsburg on Monday was the senior’s second double-double of the season — having also record 24 points and 12 boards against Hamline on Nov. 23. Paulson posted her first collegiate double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds against Hamline on Feb. 27, 2021.

• CAREER SCORING HIGHS: Saint Mary’s has had five players record career-highs of 10 or more points in a game this season, including four — Biermeier (19), Streveler (18), Valerie Higgins (Sioux Falls, S.D. / 13), and Alyssa Coleman (Matteson, Ill. / 12) —  in the Cardinals’ 80-74 win over Martin Luther on Nov. 15. … Goettelman poured in a career-best 13 points against Hamline on Nov. 23 and Macey Petron (Royalton, Minn.) delivered a career-high 11 vs. Luther on Sunday.

• HITTING THE BOARDS: Along with her team-leading 17.8 ppg scoring average, Paulson is also the team’s leader in rebounds with 82 (6.8 rpg), followed by Biermeier with 60 (5.0 rpg). … Paulson’s career-high 12-rebound showing against Hamline on Nov. 23 were the most in a game since Rachel Kedl recorded 16 boards against Hamline on Jan. 11, 2020.

• BIG BOARD NIGHTS: Paulson had a career night against Hamline on Nov. 23, finishing with 12 rebounds, while Goettelman hauled in a career-best 10 boards against Augsburg on Monday — missing out on her first collegiate double-double by one point.

• FROM DOWNTOWN: The Cardinals rained in a season-high 12 3-pointers in last Saturday’s win over Carleton. It was the most 3-pointers in a game since netting 12 against Hamline on Jan. 11, 2020, and the third time this season SMU has hit 10 or more treys in a game. … Paulson leads the team with 26 3-pointers, while Streveler is second with 22. Streveler hit five 3-pointers en route to her 15 points against Carleton last Saturday.

• FREE POINTS: Biermeier knocked down a season- and career-high 10 free throws on 12 attempts against Martin Luther on Nov. 15. The 10 made free throws were the most by a Cardinal since Shayley Vesel went 10-for-13 from the charity stripe against Augsburg on Feb. 5, 2020. … Saint Mary’s 28 made free throws against Martin Luther on Nov. 15 were the most since netting 32 against Bethel on Feb. 27, 2014, while the Cardinals’ 35 free throws attempted were the most since attempting 35 vs. Macalester on Feb. 10, 2018.

• THREE’S COMPANY: Paulson, Goettelman, and Streveler accounted for 38 of the Cardinals’ 51 points in the Cardinals’ 65-51 loss to Bethel on Dec. 11 — including all 27 SMU points in the first half.

• AS A TEAM: The Cardinals are shooting 34.0 percent from the field (238-for-699), with 80 3-pointers, and are 190 of 261 (72.8 percent) from the free throw line. The Cardinals’ 72.9 percent accuracy from the line is second in the MIAC. … SMU is averaging 62.2 ppg, while the Cardinals’ opponents are scoring at a 67.4 ppg clip. … Saint Mary’s finished with a season-high 71 field goal attempts in its 72-63 loss to St. Olaf on Dec. 8.

• BEST 10 MINUTES: The Cardinals’ 34-point second quarter was its highest single-quarter performance since the NCAA went back to the quarter system prior to the 2015-16 season.

• RAINING IN POINTS: The Cardinals’ 85-point effort in last Saturday’s 85-58 win over Carleton were a season-high, and marked the second time this season SMU has netted 80 or more points in a game — having also tallied 80 in beating Martin Luther 80-74 on Nov. 15. … SMU’s 85 points are the most in a game since scoring 85 points an 87-85 overtime loss to Hamline on Jan. 11, 2020.

• WORKING OVERTIME: Saint Mary’s 75-71 loss to Hamline on Nov. 23 was its first overtime game of the season. The Cardinals played a single-season, program-record four overtime games during the 2019-20 season, including three that were decided by two points.

• MAC ATTACK: The Cardinals’ 63-58 win over Macalester on Nov. 20 was the 19th win against the Scots in their previous 20 meetings.

• FOR THE RECORD: The Wildcats enter Wednesday’s matchup against Saint Mary’s sitting at 4-6 overall, including a 4-5 mark in conference play — including a forfeit win and a forfeit loss due to COVID testing protocols.

• LAST ACTION: St. Catherine played its first game of 2022 on Wednesday, falling to Macalester 68-59 at Butler Center in St. Paul, Minn. SCU’s first two games of 2022 — vs. Augsburg and Saint Benedict — were both canceled due to COVID testing protocols.

• FROM DOWNTOWN: Greta Schimnowski has knocked down a team-leading 12 3-pointers, four more than Sydney Elliott. As a team, the Wildcats have drained 38 3-pointers and have gotten at least one try from eight different players.

• LENDING A HAND: Brooke Torvik has dished out a team-high 20 assists, and is one of six Wildcats with 10 or more helpers through 10 games, being joined by Wood (15), Orth (14), Glynn (13), Mackenzie Kurczek (11), and Benjamin (10).

• AS A TEAM: The Wildcats are shooting 39.9 percent from the field (236-for-592), with 38 3-pointers, and are 106 of 166 (63.9 percent) from the free throw line.
