WINONA, Minn. — Due to COVID-19 testing protocols, the Saint Mary's University men's hockey team's two games against Gustavus, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, have been canceled.
Â
According to the updated MIAC winter sport COVID-19 policy, all conference games unable to be played as scheduled due to COVID-19-impacted rosters will be declared no-contests. This plan was approved by the MIAC President's on Thursday, Jan. 13.
Â
Conference games will not be rescheduled in order to avoid compacting the schedule with multiple games in a limited amount of days, though institutions will reserve the autonomy to schedule or reschedule conference teams as nonconference games (within the NCAA allowed limit) as they see fit.
Â
The Cardinals, who have they conference bye next weekend, are not scheduled to play again until Feb. 11-12, when they square off against league-leading and nationally ranked Augsburg in a pair of MIAC matchups. SMU will host the Auggies on Feb. 11 at 7 p.m., and the two teams will complete their two-game series with a 7 p.m. matchup at Ed Saugestad Arena in Minneapolis, Minn., the following evening.
