SAINT MARY’S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT:
• POST-SEASON HONORS: Granton Schneider (Moorhead, Minn.) collected honorable-mention All-MIAC honors after placing 22nd overall at the MIAC Championships on Oct. 29. He is the first Saint Mary’s cross country athlete to claim conference honors since Jovan Newsum was named All-MIAC First Team after placing third overall in 2016.
• LEADERS OF THE PACK: For the sixth time in as many races, Schneider led the way for the Cardinal men at the MIAC Championships on Oct. 29, shaving seven seconds off his previous best eight-kilometer time to break the tape in 26:21.1, placing 22nd overall and leading SMU to a 10th place showing. … Kendra Klobe (Glencoe, Minn.) — making her inaugural conference championships appearance — led the Cardinal women’s time for the first time this season, clocking a six-kilometer time of 26:09.3 in leading the Cardinals to a 10th-place finish.
• DREWS/NEUBAUER INVITATIONAL: Schneider posted an eight-kilometer time of 26:14.3 — placing 10th among runners from the MIAC in the field of more than 420 runners — while Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) was the SMU women’s top finisher for the third straight race, breaking the tape with a six-kilometer time of 25:51.7, just one-tenth of a second off her collegiate best time. Caeli McMahon (Holmen, Wis.) was the second SMU female to cross the finish line, stopping the clock in a career-best 25:54.4, with Klobe — making her first appearance of the season — close on McMahon’s heels with a time of 26:00.3. Meghan Frosch (Oconomowoc, Wis. / 27:29.6), Abbie Meyer (Sauk Centre, Minn. / 27:43.9), and Amanda Tuvey (West St. Paul, Minn. / 29:16.6) rounded out the Cardinals’ lineup. … On the men’s side, Gabriel Bickerstaff (Rollingstone, Minn.) was the second Cardinal across the finish line with a time of 28:48.2, followed by Isaiah Brindamour (Hinckley, Minn.), who posted a time of 30:25.5.
• UW-EAU CLAIRE INVITATIONAL: Schneider posted an eight-kilometer time of 26:43.61 to lead the SMU men, while Gearin delivered her best time of the season, stopping the clock in 25:50.37 to lead the way for the SMU women. … Bickerstaff chipped in a time of 27:54.03 and Brindamour added a 30:13.51 effort for the SMU men, while McMahon delivered a 6K time of 26:18.01, followed by Frosch (27:17.48), Meyer (27:20.32), and Tuvey (30:03.53) for the Cardinal women.
• ST. OLAF INVITATIONAL: Schneider posted an eight-kilometer time of 27:26.75, while Gearin turned in a six-kilometer showing of 26:33.5 to pace the SMU women. … Along with Schneider’s effort, Bickerstaff and Sam Morris (Hockinson, Wash.) chipped in times of 30:07.37 and 30:08.96, respectively, and Brindamour rounded out the Cardinal men’s efforts with a time of 32:03.15. … On the women’s side, Meyer and McMahon finished in a virtual dead heat, posting times of 28:01.3 and 28:01.4, respectively, with Frosch chipping in a time of 28:50.1.
• HAMLINE INVITATIONAL: Running in his first collegiate eight-kilometer race, Schneider turned more than a few heads, clocking a team-best time of 26:04.98 to place 10th overall. Kern, meanwhile, led the way for the Cardinal women for the second straight race, breaking the tape in a 6K time of 23:52.59 to place 22nd overall. … Brindamour was the second Cardinal male to cross the finish line, stopping the clock in 29:46.41, while Morris — competing in his first collegiate race — added a time of 29.53.70. … On the women’s side, Gearin was second to Kern, breaking the tape in 25:23.37, followed by Megan Frosch (26:14.67), McMahon (26:35.72), Abbie Meyer (26:45.56), and Amanda Tuvey (West St. Paul, Minn. / 28:29.93).
• AUGUSTANA TWILIGHTS: Kern led the way for the Cardinal women, touring the five-kilometer course in 19.50.95, while Schneider — making his collegiate debut — led the way for the SMU men, posting a four-mile time of 21:28.67. … Gearin was the second Cardinal across the finish line, stopping the clock in 21.07.99, while Frosch — one of three freshmen running in their first collegiate race — placed third among the Cardinals, breaking the tape in 22:03.40. McMahon and Meyer added times of 22:18.20 and 22:41.52, respectively, with Amanda Tuvey chipping in a time of 23:29.68. … Along with Schneider’s 21:28.67 effort, Gabe Bickerstaff (Rollingstone, Minn.) chipped in a four-mile time of 23:57.65 and Brindamour (Hinckley, Minn.) delivered a time of 24:19.46 for the SMU men.
