WINONA, Minn. — Jordan Keeley (St. Peter, Minn.) was very busy between the pipes for the Saint Mary's University women's hockey team in its two-game conference series against Augsburg last weekend, recording 88 saves in the Cardinals' conference split against the Auggies.

And the Herculean effort did not go unnoticed, as Keeley was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

The senior goalie opened the weekend with a then-season-high 39-save effort in the Cardinals' 4-2 win over the Auggies last Friday — including 20 in the first period. The following afternoon, Keeley was at it again, doing her Friday night effort 11 saves better, kicking out a career-high 49 Augsburg shots — including making 21 saves in the third period — in Saint Mary's 3-2 loss to the Auggies.

Keeley has made five starts through the Cardinals' first eight games, compiling a 3.05 goals-against-average and a .925 save percentage. She has stopped 30 or more shots three times and leads the team with 184 saves.

The Cardinals (1-3-0 MIAC, 1-6-1 overall) are off until Dec. 2-3, when they square off against second-ranked Gustavus in a two-game MIAC series.
