WINONA, Minn. — Callahan Nauss (Des Moines, Iowa) made a huge impact during his first season in a Saint Mary's University men's hockey jersey.

The freshman defenseman's play turned more than a few heads around the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and Nauss was honored for those efforts — not only earning honorable-mention All-MIAC honors, but also being named to the MIAC's All-Rookie Team.

The accolades were not confined to the MIAC, however, as Nauss was recently named to the USCHO.com All-Rookie Team.

Nauss thrived during his freshman campaign as a Cardinal, scoring one goal and adding seven assists for eight points. He netted his first goal as a Cardinal against nationally ranked Augsburg on Feb. 11.

The eight-man USCHO.com All-Rookie Team — comprised of two goalies, two defensemen, and four forwards from all of NCAA Division III — included: St. Norbert forward Liam Fraser (24G, 23A, 47 Pts), Hamilton forward Grisha Gotovets (7G, 13A, 20 Pts), and forward Tyler Cooper from St. Olaf (14G, 9A, 23 Pts). Nauss (1G, 7A, 8 Pts) and Reid Lindsay (3G, 14A, 17 Pts) from Hobart made up the defensive pairing, while goalies Tate Brandon (2.31 GAA, .923 SV%, 5 Shutouts) from Skidmore and Ryan Ouelette (1.66 GAA, .923 SV%, 6 Shutouts) from UW-Eau Claire rounded out the team.
