• 1: Nathan Riess (Timnath, Colo.) netted his first collegiate goal in the Cardinal men’s soccer team’s 5-2 nonconference win over Martin Luther last Saturday. Riess is the fourth SMU player to net his first goal in an SMU uniform this season.
• 2: For the second week in a row, Emily Kern (Buffalo, Minn.) was the top finisher for the Saint Mary’s women’s cross country team at last Friday’s Hamline Invitational, running a 23:52.59 in the 5.9K race.
• 2: The Saint Mary’s volleyball team collected a pair of double-doubles in last Saturday’s 3-1 win over Marian. Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) delivered a 16-kill, 16-dig double-double — her fourth of the season — while Larkin Clem (Elk River, Minn.) notched her first of the year with 16 assists and 12 digs.
• 2: Cerim Palislamovic (Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded his first collegiate two-goal game in leading the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team to a 5-2 nonconference win over Martin Luther last Saturday.
• 3: Jack Hurley (Homewood, Ill.) scored a pair of penalty kick goals for the Cardinal men’s soccer team last week. Hurley netted his second PK goal in SMU’s 3-1 win over Ripon last Wednesday, and added PK goal No. 3 three days later against Martin Luther.
• 5: The Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team scored a season-high five goals in its 5-2 win over Martin Luther on Saturday. It was the Cardinals’ highest single-game offensive output since beating Martin Luther 5-0 a year ago.
• 5: The Cardinals’ 3-0-2 start — which included a 3-1 win over Ripon and a 5-2 win over Martin Luther — is their best since opening the 1986 season 4-0-1, and the third-best start in program history. The 1983 Saint Mary’s team went 13 games without a loss to open the season, going 11-0-2.
• 6: Alexis Nguyen (West Corvina, Calif.) stopped a season-high six shots in the Cardinal women’s soccer team’s 1-0 loss to Wartburg last Tuesday.
• 7: Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) equaled his season high with seven saves in the Cardinal men’s soccer team’s 3-1 win over Ripon last Wednesday. Sessler also made seven saves against Aurora on Sept. 3.
• 10: Running in his first collegiate 8K for the Saint Mary’s men’s cross country team, Granton Schneider (Moorhead, Minn.) clocked a time of 26:04.98 to place 10th among 79 competitors at last Friday’s Hamline Invitational.
• 25: Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) posted a team-high 25 kills in the SMU volleyball team’s two matches at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational last Saturday.
