WINONA, Minn. — It was a night to remember for Saint Mary's University's
Sidney Polzin (Chippewa Falls, Wis.).
Â
The sophomore had a hand in all five Cardinal goals — scoring three times and adding a pair of assists — in last Friday's 5-0 conference win over St. Catherine.
Â
And Monday, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rewarded Polzin for her efforts, naming her MIAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Â
Polzin kicked off her five-point performance with an assist on
Jenna Kurkowski's first-period goal, before scoring her first two goals in SMU's three-goal second period, before capping off her first collegiate hat trick with the Cardinals' final goal at 2:34 of the third period.
Â
The hat trick was Saint Mary's first since Bailey Wendt scored four times against Bethel on Feb. 3, 2018, while her first career five-point night was the team's first since Nicole Olson equaled that feat with three goals and two helpers against St. Norbert on Nov. 4, 2011.
Â
Polzin shares the team lead in goals with five, while boasting team-highs in both assists (6) and points (11) through the first 17 games of the season.
