• 1: Goalie Matt Sankner (Pennington, N.J.) picked up his first collegiate assist in the Cardinal men’s hockey team’s 6-3 victory over Lawrence last Tuesday. Sankner is the first SMU goalie to record an assist since Nick Nash recorded an assist against Gustavus on Oct. 26, 2018.
• 2-0/3-0: The SMU men’s hockey team rallied from 2-0 and 3-0 deficits in back-to-back wins last week. The Cardinals rallied from a 2-0 second-period deficit to beat Lawrence 6-3 last Tuesday, before storming back from three goals down to beat Northland 5-4 in overtime three days later.
• 3: The Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team pushed its winning streak to three in a row with last Saturday’s 2-1 overtime win over UW-Stevens Point. The Cardinals have allowed just one goal during its three-game run — posting back-to-back shutouts over Lawrence on Dec. 9-10, before last Saturday’s OT win.
• 3: Nikita Sheberov (Obninsk, Russia) recorded his first collegiate hat trick in the SMU men’s hockey team’s 6-3 nonconference win over Lawrence last Tuesday. Sheberov’s three-goal performance was the Cardinals’ first since Andrew Froese (Traverse City, Mich.) achieved the feat against Gustavus on Feb. 23, 2021.
• 3:08: Callahan Nauss (Maple Plain, Minn.) scored at 3:08 of overtime to lift the Cardinal men’s hockey team to a 5-4, come-from-behind win over Northland last Friday.
• 4: Thomas Magnavite (Chicago, Ill.) scored the SMU men’s hockey team’s lone goal in last Saturday’s 4-1 loss to UW-Eau Claire. Magnavite has now recorded at least one point in each of the Cardinals’ last four games.
• 5: The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team’s 65-58 loss to Saint Benedict last Saturday marked the fifth straight game decided by 10 points or less. Along with the seven-point loss to Saint Benedict, SMU lost to Hamline (69-60), beat Massachusetts Institute of Technology (60-53), and fell to Penn State Behrend (71-65) and UW-Stevens Point (81-79 OT).
• 6: The Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team scored a season-high six goals — three in the second period and three more in the third — en route to a 6-3 victory over Lawrence last Tuesday.
• 6-0: After opening the season 1-6-1, the Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team rattled off six straight wins — including a 6-3 victory over Lawrence last Tuesday and a 5-4 OT win over Northland three days later — before falling to UW-Eau Claire 4-1 on Saturday. The six-game winning streak was SMU’s longest since winning six in a row during the 2005-06 season.
• 14: The Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team equaled the program’s single-game record with 14 3-pointers against Finlandia last Monday. It marked the second time this season the Cardinals have hit 14 3s in a game, having first achieved the feat against Carleton on Dec. 3.
• 14: Katelyn Cruze (Litchfield, Minn.) scored a career-high 14 points to lead the Cardinal women’s basketball team in scoring in last Saturday’s 65-58 loss to Saint Benedict.
• 15: Raheem Anthony (Chicago, Ill.) equaled his career-high with 15 rebounds in the SMU men’s basketball team’s 81-72 win over Hamline last Wednesday. Anthony’s 15-board performance was one shy of the single-game program record of 16, set by Will Swiggum against Martin Luther on Nov. 24, 2015.
• 20+ x 4: The SMU men’s basketball team had two players scored 20 or more points in a game twice last week. Mason Klett (Apple Valley, Minn.) scored 27 points and Raheem Anthony (Chicago, Ill.) tallied 21 against Finlandia last Monday, while Breyton Buysman (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) poured in 25 points and Anthony chipped in 23 against Hamline two days later.
• 22: Ashley Streveler (Colby, Wis.) netted a career-high 22 points in the Cardinal women’s basketball team’s 69-60 loss to Hamline last Wednesday. Streveler is the fifth SMU player to record a career-high of 10 or more points this season.
• 25: Breyton Buysman (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) scored a career-high 25 points in leading the Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team to an 81-72 MIAC win over Hamline last Wednesday. Buysman becomes the fourth player to record a single-game career-high of more than 10 points this season.
• 27: Mason Klett (Apple Valley, Minn.) scored a career-high 27 points — including six 3-pointers — in leading the SMU men’s basketball team to a 102-68 win over Finlandia last Monday. Klett’s 27-point night eclipsed his previous career-best by 24 points.
• 29: The SMU men’s basketball team snapped a 29-game losing streak against Saint John’s with a 69-57 win last Saturday. The victory was the Cardinals’ first since a 63-60 triumph on Jan. 22, 2007.
• 32: Raheem Anthony (Chicago, Ill.) poured in a game-high 32 points in leading the Cardinal men’s basketball team to a 69-57 win over league-leading Saint John’s last Saturday. It was the third time this season the senior has netted 30 or more points in a game.
• 40-4: The Cardinal women’s hockey team outshot UW-Stevens Point 40-4 over the first two periods — and 53-13 for the game — in last Saturday’s 2-1 overtime win over the Pointers.
• 102: The Cardinal men’s basketball team poured in a season-high 102 points — including 55 in the first half — in drubbing Finlandia 102-68 last Monday. The 102 points were the most since SMU netted 103 in beating Luther 103-97 in overtime on Nov. 30, 2019 and marks the 10th time in program history that a team has scored 100 or more points — including a program-record 110 in a 110-99 win over UM-Duluth on Jan. 26, 1956.
• 1,000: With his field goal at 5:48 of the second half against Finlandia last Monday, Raheem Anthony (Chicago, Ill.) became the 28th player in men’s basketball program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Anthony — who is SMU’s first 1,000-point scorer since Eli Cave ’21 hit the milestone during the 2020-21 season — is sitting at 1,002 career points and is poised to make a steady climb up the ladder. He currently sits at 1,002 career points and trails Roger Pytlewski ’63 by two points (1003), John Jimenez ’91 by 13 (1014), and Will Swiggum ’16 by 36 (1037).
