• 1: Kenzie Meland (Zimmerman, Minn.) scored her first collegiate goal in the Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team’s 7-0 win over the University of Dubuque last Tuesday. Meland is the seventh player to net her first goal as a Cardinal this season.
• 1 + 1: Luke Ciolli (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Nikita Sheberov (Obninsk, Russia) accounted for the SMU men’s hockey team’s two goals in last Friday’s 2-2 overtime tie against the University of Dubuque.
• 2: The Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team’s 2-2 overtime deadlock against the University of Dubuque last Friday marked the second straight overtime tie for the Cardinals, who played Gustavus to a 4-4 draw on Dec. 2.
• 2-2: The SMU men’s basketball team went 2-for-2 from the free throw line against Concordia last Monday. The two made free throws were the fewest in a game since hitting 2 of 4 against St. Olaf on Feb. 9, 2015, while the two FT attempts were the fewest since Feb. 8, 2006, when SMU went 0-for-1 from the line against Hamline.
• 4: Reese Heitzman (Hermantown, Minn.) collected her first collegiate four-point game in the SMU women’s hockey team’s 7-0 win over the University of Dubuque last Tuesday, scoring once and adding a career-best three assists.
• 7: The Cardinal women’s hockey team’s seven goals against the University of Dubuque last Tuesday came from seven different players — Reese Heitzman (Hermantown, Minn.), Sophia Paduano (Westby, Wis.), Taverie Sherner (Maple Grove, Minn.), Celia Midtbo (Minneapolis, Minn.), Kenzie Meland (Zimmerman, Minn.), Kas Kingston (Black Diamond, Alberta), and Leah Parker (Hudson, Wis.).
• 11: Bruce Lockwood (Shakopee, Minn.) matched his career high with 11 points in the SMU men’s basketball team’s 77-65 loss to Bethel last Saturday.
• 11, 10: Grace Schaffer (Farmington, Minn.) scored a team-best 11 points and Izzy Goettelman (Winona, Minn.) chipped in 10 in the Cardinal women’s basketball team’s five-point, 63-58 loss to St. Scholastica last Wednesday.
• 12: Maddie Wall (Cameron, Wis.) netted a career-high 12 points in the Cardinal women’s basketball team’s 66-49 loss to Bethel last Saturday. Wall is the fourth player this season to record a season-high 10 or more points in a game.
• 14: Jemari Moore (Broadview, Ill.) scored a career-high 14 points in leading the Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team in scoring in its 71-57 MIAC loss to league-leading and unbeaten Concordia last Monday.
• 15 + 10 = 1: Grace Schaffer (Farmington, Minn.) picked up her first collegiate double-double in the SMU women’s basketball team’s 64-52 loss to Concordia last Monday.
• 20+ x 2: Cameron Mallory (Joliet, Ill.) scored a career-high 25 points and Breyton Buysman (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) added 24 in leading the SMU men’s basketball team to a 92-80 MIAC win over St. Scholastica last Wednesday. It was the second time this season the Cardinal tandem had scored 20 or more points in the same game.
• 24 x 2: Breyton Buysman (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) scored a team-high 24 points in the Cardinal men’s basketball team’s 77-65 loss to Bethel last Saturday. It was the second straight game, and the third time this season, the junior has netted a season-high 24 points.
• 49: The Cardinals men’s hockey team posted a season-high 49 shots on goal against the University of Dubuque in last Friday’s 2-2 tie. It was SMU’s highest shot total since peppering the Bethel net with 58 SOG on Feb. 18, 2022.
• 92: The SMU men’s basketball team’s 92-point effort in its 92-80 win over St. Scholastica last Wednesday were a season-high, and the most points in a game since netting a season-high 102 against Finlandia on Jan. 2, 2023.
