WINONA, Minn. — When it comes to post-season accolades, Saint Mary's University's
Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.) is no stranger to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference spotlight — twice being named honorable-mention All-MIAC, while earning First-Team All-MIAC honors a year ago.
Â
And Wednesday afternoon when the league office unveiled its yearly post-season selections, the Cardinal senior made it a perfect 4-for-4, being named to the All-MIAC team for a second straight season.
Â
Paulson wasn't the only Cardinal women's basketball player making a return trip to the MIAC stage, as
Izzy Goettelman (Winona, Minn.) collected her second straight MIAC honorable-mention honor.
Â
Paulson closed out her final year as a Cardinal averaging 15.9 ppg in 22 conference contests, shooting 36.1 percent (107-for-296), with 46 3-pointers, and went 90-for-105 (85.7%) from the free throw line. The senior guard also delivered 187 rebounds (8.5 rpg), 50 assists, 24 steals and seven blocked shots.
Â
Paulson started all 25 games for the Cardinals in 2022-23 — finishing her career having started every game, a program-record 107 consecutive starts — finishing with a 16.5 ppg scoring average and delivered 203 rebounds (8.1 rpg), 58 assists, 28 steals and 10 blocks. She owned seven games of 20 or more points — including a season-high 26-point effort against Hamline on Jan. 30 — and closed out her collegiate career No. 3 all-time with 1,566 career points.
Â
Goettelman, meanwhile, closed out her sophomore campaign having started all 22 conference contests, averaging 9.6 ppg and 4.0 rpg. She drained 71 of 214 field goal attempts (33.2%), with 28 3-pointers, and finished 41 of 58 (70.7%) from the free throw line, while adding 34 assists, 11 steals and nine blocks. Like Paulson, Goettelman started all 25 games this season, finishing with a 10.1 ppg scoring average and hauling in 103 rebounds (4.1 rpg). She broke the 20-point barrier twice this season, including a career-high 23-point showing against UW-Stevens Point on Dec. 14.
Â
St. Olaf's Rachel Kelly was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year, while Chan'el Anderson-Manning of Hamline was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. Lexi Imdieke of St. Scholastica earned MIAC Rookie of the Year honors, and Concordia's Kim Wagers was tabbed MIAC Coach of the Year.
