• 2: Both of the Saint Mary’s men’s tennis team’s wins in its 7-2 loss to St. Scholastica last Saturday went to a third set. E.J. Hietala (Duluth, Minn.) rallied from a set down to post a 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 win at No. 2 singles, while Tucker Stene (Fridley, Minn.) bounced back from an opening-set loss to win 5-7, 6-4, 10-3 at No. 4.
• 2: The Saint Mary’s baseball and fastpitch softball teams both earned MIAC splits against Gustavus last Sunday — with both teams winning Game 2. SMU baseball rebounded from a 5-1 loss to beat GAC 5-4 in Game 2, while Cardinal fastpitch fell 7-4 in the opener, and rallied for a 9-4 victory in the nightcap.
• 2, 3: Ryan Campbell (New Berlin, Wis.) picked up his first two collegiate hits — including a game-winning two-run triple — in the SMU baseball team’s 5-4 victory over Gustavus last Sunday. Campbell also delivered a run-scoring single to give the freshman his first three career RBIs.
• 7: Cassie Sutor (Chicago, Ill.) matched her career-high in innings pitched, tossing a complete game in the SMU fastpitch softball team’s 9-4, Game 2 win over Gustavus last Sunday. Sutor has now thrown seven innings in a game three times in her collegiate career. Sutor also went 2-for-4 with at RBI at the plate to help her own cause.
• 7, 6: Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.) had a hand in the Cardinal men’s track team’s top two performances at last Saturday’s UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge, placing seventh individually in the 400 with a time of 51.10, before teaming with Ben Kritsberg (Rosemount, Minn.), Antonio Cisewski (Custer, Wis.), and Oliver Adamson (Rochester, Minn.) to post a sixth-place time of 42.86 in the men’s 4x100.
• 7-8: Ali French (Winona, Minn.) went 7-for-8 in the Cardinal fastpitch softball team’s conference split against Gustavus last Saturday, as the freshman went 3-for-4 in the opener and adding a perfect 4-for-4 showing in the nightcap. The 4-for-4 Game 2 effort marked the second time this season French has gone 4-for-4 in a game.
• 8: Emily Henderson (Jordan, Minn.) closed out the season leading the Cardinal women’s tennis team in dual-match singles wins with eight.
• 9: Timmy Smith (West St. Paul, Minn.) recorded his team-leading second complete game — and ran his record to 5-1 in the SMU baseball team’s 5-4, Game 2 win over Gustavus last Sunday. Smith matched his career-high in innings pitched with his nine-inning outing.
• 10 + 15: Samantha Kubes (Eden Prairie, Minn.) posted the SMU women’s track and field team’s top effort at last Saturday’s UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge, placing 10th in the hammer with a throw of 43.90 meters. She also added a mark of 11.98 meters to finish 15th in the shot put.
• 12: With his three-set win against St. Scholastica last Saturday, Tucket Stene (Fridley, Minn.) finished the year with a team-leading 12 dual-match singles wins for the SMU men’s tennis team.
• 16: The Saint Mary’s track and field teams posted 16 Top 20 finishes at last Saturday’s 28-team UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge.
