• 1: Andrew Fischer (La Crosse, Wis.) picked up his first pitching win of the season last Thursday, allowing just two runs on five hits in six innings of the SMU baseball team’s 3-2 victory over Augsburg in the first game of the teams’ conference doubleheader.
• 2: Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) led the way for the Cardinal women’s track and field team at last Saturday’s Macalester Rider/Bolstorff Invitational, placing second in the pole vault (3.60m) and seventh in the 400 (1:02.75).
• 3: Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.) was the brightest of the Cardinal track and field team’s shining stars last Saturday at the Macalester Rider/Bolstorff Invitational, as the sophomore had a hand in three first-place performances — winning both the 100 (11.02) and the 200 (22.53), while also teaming up with Ben Kritsberg (Rosemount, Minn.), Brady Johnson (Elburn, Ill.), and Antonio Cisewski (Custer, Wis.) to close a first-place time of 42.69 to win the 4x100.
• 4: Sam Schneider (St. Joseph, Minn.) drove in a career-high four runs in the Cardinal baseball team’s 19-9 win over Bethany Lutheran last Sunday. Schneider drove in three of htose four runs with a bases-loaded double in SMU’s six-run third inning.
• 5, 4, 2: Cameron Weber (Holmen, Wis.) went 5-for-7 with two doubles, four runs scored, and a pair of RBIs in the SMU baseball team’s 19-9 nonconference win over Bethany Lutheran last Sunday. The five hits w
• 5-7: Riley Bauman (Stratford, Wis.) finished the day 5-for-7 in the Cardinal baseball team’s 10-3, 9-5 sweep of Concordia last Friday. Bauman went 2-for-3 in the opener with a three-run home run, and finished 3-for-4 with two more RBIs in the nightcap.
• 5 x 2 + 6: The Cardinal baseball team scored five runs in the sixth inning in both games of their MIAC sweep of Concordia last Friday, before plating a season-high six runs in the third inning against Bethany Lutheran two days later.
• 10: The Saint Mary’s baseball team scored a season-high 10 runs in recording a 10-3 victory over Concordia in Game 1 of the Cardinals’ MIAC doubleheader against the Cobbers last Friday.
• 14: Starting pitchers Addison Hochevar (Lake Geneva, Wis.) and Timmy Smith (South St. Paul, Minn.) each tossed seven innings in the Cardinal baseball team’s sweep of Concordia last Friday. Hochevar tossed a complete-game seven-hitter in SMU’s 10-3 Game 1 win, while Smith went the first seven frames, scattering 12 hits, in the Cardinals’ 9-5 victory in the nine-inning Game 2.
• 18: The Cardinal track and field teams recorded three first-place finishes and 18 Top 15 efforts at the Macalester Rider/Bolstorff Invitational last Saturday.
• 19: The Saint Mary’s baseball team scored a season-high 19 runs in its 19-9 nonconference win over Bethany Lutheran last Sunday. The 19 runs were the most since SMU plated 19 against Finlandia on March 1, 2017.
