• 1: Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.) stopped the clock in 21.99 seconds — just three hundreths of a second off the school record of 21.96 — to win the 200 for the second straight weekend to lead the way for the SMU track and field teams at last Wednesday’s Minnesota State-Mankato Open.
• 1 x 4: The Cardinal track and field teams collected four first-place finishes at last Friday’s Hamline Meet of the UnSaintly. Kendra Klobe (Glencoe, Minn.) and Anna Becker (Cannon Falls, Minn.) collected first-place finishes to lead the way for the Cardinal women — Klobe placing first in the 5,000 with a time of 20:35.35 and Becker winning the hammer with a toss of 43.88 meters — while the women’s 4x400 relay team of Caeli McMahon (Holmen, Wis.), Abbie Meyer (Sauk Centre, Minn.), Megan Frosch (Oconomowoc, Wis.), Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) chipped in a first-place time of 4:30.13. Aidan Gatz (Elburn, Ill.), meanwhile, chipped in SMU’s fourth first of the night, clearing 4.45 meters to win the men’s pole vault.
• 2: The SMU baseball team was extended to extra innings in both of its nonconference games against UW-Eau Claire last Thursday. The Cardinals dropped a 5-4, 10-inning decision in the opener, while rallying for an 8-7 extra-inning victory in the nightcap.
• 2 x 2 x 2: Heather Nordlund (Byron, Minn.) and Abbie Stigler (Menomonie, Wis.) each had two hits in both games in the SMU fastpitch softball team’s 7-4, 6-2 MIAC sweep of Concordia last Tuesday
• 3 x 2: Mason Coyle (Madison, Wis.) and Daniel Marxen (Maple Grove, Minn.) each had three hits through 6 2/3 innings of the SMU baseball team’s first game against Carleton on Sunday, before rain forced the game to be halted and resumed on Monday.
• 4: Riley Bauman (Stratford, Wis.) scored a single-game career-high four runs in the Cardinal baseball team’s 14-2 win over Hamline in the first game of the teams’ MIAC doubleheader last Tuesday.
• 4: Ali French (Winona, Minn.) collected four hits in the SMU fastpitch softball team’s two losses to No. 9 Bethel last Wednesday — including a 3-for-4, two-double effort in the opener.
• 4: Riley Hall (Dallas Center, Iowa) launched her team-leading fourth home run — a two-run shot in the top of the eighth inning — to lead the SMU fastpitch softball team to a 12-11 victory in Game 2 against Augsburg last Thursday.
• 5: The Saint Mary’s track and field teams recorded five Top 5 performances at last Wednesday’s Minnesota State-Mankato Open. Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.) delivered a first-place showing in the 200, while the men’s 4x11 relay team placed second; Aidan Gatz (Elburn, Ill. / pole vault) and Brady Johnson (Elburn, Ill. / triple jump) added thirds; and Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis. / pole vault) chipped in a fourth.
• 5: Ali French (Winona, Minn.) and Abbie Stigler (Menomonie, Wis.) combined to drive in all five of the SMU fastpitch softball team’s runs in last Sunday’s 5-2, Game 2 win over No. 19 Saint Benedict. Stigler delivered a two-run single in the second, and French added a three-run, bases-clearing double in the fourth.
• 7: The Cardinal fastpitch softball team erupted for seven second-inning runs in their Game 1 win over Augsburg last Thursday. The seven runs were one shy of SMU’s season-high eight-run inning against North Central on Feb. 19.
• 8: The Saint Mary’s fastpitch softball team banged out eight extra-base hits in sweeping past Concordia last Tuesday. The Cardinals collected seven doubles — including two by Abbie Stigler (Menomonie, Wis.) and a home run off the bat of Peyton Berg (Chatfield, Minn.)
• 9: The SMU baseball team erupted for nine runs in the seventh inning in last Tuesday’s 14-2, Game 1 win over Hamline. The nine runs are the most in a single inning since the Cardinals plated 10 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning of a 19-2, MIAC Tournament win over … Hamline … on May 13, 2013.
• 10+ x 2: The Saint Mary’s fastpitch softball team scored more than 10 runs in both of its wins over Augsburg last Thursday, scoring 11 runs in an 11-3 victory over the Auggies in the opener, before plating 12 runs in a marathon, 12-11, eight-inning victory in the nightcap.
• 20: With their 12-11, eight-inning win over Augsburg in the second game of the teams’ MIAC doubleheader last Thursday, the SMU fastpitch softball team reached 20 wins, marking the first time since going 22-16 in 2016 that the Cardinals have tallied 20 or more wins in a season.
• 20: Riley Hall (Dallas Center, Iowa) was hit by a pitch in each of the SMU fastpitch softball team’s games against No. 19 Saint Benedict last Sunday. The junior has now been hit by a pitch 20 times this season — tops among all NCAA Division III players.
• 100+: Cameron Weber (Holmen, Wis.) and Addison Hochevar (Lake Geneva, Wis.) both reached the career century mark for the Saint Mary’s baseball team this season — Weber in career games played (105) and hits (104), and Hochevar in strikeouts (137).
• 2013: The Cardinal fastpitch softball team locked up its first MIAC Playoff appearance since 2013 with their 11-3, 12-11 sweep of Augsburg last Thursday.
