WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University volleyball team, coming off a stellar showing in a season-opening sweep over Marian in the opening match of the Sugar Loaf Classic, picked up right where it left off in match No. 2 of the tournament.
The Cardinals got 19 kills from
Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) and career-highs of 32 assists and 10 digs from
Faith VanErp (Sartell, Minn.) in collecting their second straight 3-0 victory, this time sweeping Lawrence out of the Gostomski Fieldhouse.
Saint Mary's never allowed the Vikings to get into any offensive rhythm, opening with back-to-back 25-15 victories, before closing things out with a 25-20 win in the third and final set.
Maddie Baker (Savage, Minn.) chipped in a career-best 10 kills and
Lindsey Rossow (Rochester, Minn.) delivered a career-high 11 digs for Saint Mary's
The Cardinals (2-0 overall) close out their home tournament with a pair of matches on Saturday, facing UM-Morris at 1:00, followed by a 3 p.m. showdown with Elmhurst.
