SAINT MARY’S SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals head into their weekend matches against Saint Benedict, Nebraska Wesleyan, and St. Olaf sitting at 7-10 overall, including sporting an 0-2 mark in conference play.
• LAST ACTION: Saint Mary’s dropped back-to-back 3-0 decisions to open conference play against Gustavus and Concordia last weekend, before suffering a heartbreaking, 3-2 setback to Central-Iowa in its second match of the day last Saturday.
• GOING THE DISTANCE: With their 3-2 loss to Central-Iowa last Saturday, Saint Mary’s has now played six matches that have been extended to a fifth set. The Cardinals are 3-3 in those six contests — beating UMN Morris, Northland, and Buena Vista, while falling to UW-La Crosse, Monmouth, and Central-Iowa.
• SWEEPING UP: Nine of Saint Mary’s 17 matches this season have been decided by 3-0 sweeps. The Cardinals are 3-6 in those seven contests — beating Marian, Lawrence, and Luther, while falling to Elmhurst, UW-Superior, Coe, the University of Dubuque, No. 18 Gustavus, and Concordia.
• ON THE ATTACK: Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) heads into the weekend boasting a team-high 256 kills through 17 matches — tops in the MIAC — and is one of four Cardinals who have eclipsed the 100-kill plateau. Kali Olson (New York Mills, Minn.) is sitting second on the team with 154 kills, followed by Jazzy Davis (La Crosse, Wis.) with 121 and Brenna Bruchert (Eau Claire, Wis.) with 113.
• JOINING THE CLUB: With her ninth kill against Central-Iowa last Saturday, McNally became the 14th player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills. McNally enters this weekend’s matches owning 1,015 kills, leaving her 12th all-time. Next up: Brandi Blattner ’18 with 1,164.
• DOUBLE DIGITS: McNally has recorded at least 10 kills in 15 of the Cardinals’ 17 matches this season, including four matches of 20 or more kills. … McNally tallied a season-high 24 kills against UMN Morris on Sept. 2.
• HITTING 10 x 4: The Cardinals had a season-high four players record 10 or more kills in last Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Buena Vista. Bruchert led the way with 18, followed by McNally with 14, Olson with 12, and Davis with 10.
• HITTING 20 x 2: Saint Mary’s boasted two players with 20+ kills in its 3-2 win over UMN Morris on Sept. 2 — McNally led the charge with 24 and Olson chipped in 21.
• CAREER BESTS: The Cardinals have had four players post career-highs of 10 or more kills this season. Olson recorded a career-best 21 kills against UMN Morris on Sept. 2, while Bruchert delivered a career-high 19 kills at Buena Vista on Sept. 19; Davis tallied a career-high 15 vs. Loras on Sept. 15, and Baker recorded 10 vs. Lawrence on Sept. 1.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Faith VanErp (Sartell, Minn.) has accounted for 589 of the Cardinals’ 683 assists this season, including a single-match career high of 53 against Monmouth on Sept. 16. … VanErp has delivered at least 20 helpers in 16 of SMU’s 17 matches this season, including 30 or more helpers 11 times. … VanErp’s 53 assists against Loras on Sept. 16 marked the second time the junior has delivered 50 of more assists, and were the most since Lillian Braun recorded a 53-assist performance against Coe on Sept. 27, 2019.
• DOUBLING UP: McNally, who led the team with 14 double-doubles in 2022, has recorded nine kill-dig double-doubles this season, while VanErp has notched the first seven set-dig double-doubles of her collegiate career.
• DIGGING IT: Lindsey Rossow (Rochester, Minn.) leads the Cardinals in digs with 248 digs, followed by McNally (175), VanErp (135), Devann Clemens (Chatfield, Minn. / 129), and Alison Wu (Woodbury, Minn. / 126). … Rossow posted a career-high 30 digs against UMN Morris on Sept. 2, while three other Cardinals — VanErp (18), Clemens (16), and Wu (16) — recorded career-highs in digs against Central-Iowa last Saturday. … As a team, SMU put a season-high five players in double figures in digs against Central-Iowa last Saturday.
• SERVING UP ACES: Along with her team-leading 589 assists, VanErp also leads the team with 30 service aces. Rossow (20), Olson (20), Clemens (17), Wu (14), and McNally (11) have also reached double figures in aces this season. … As a team, Saint Mary’s owns 124 aces through 17 matches. … Saint Mary’s recorded a season-high eight aces against Marian on Sept. 1.
• WEEKLY HONOR: Faith VanErp (Sartell, Minn.) was named MIAC Specialty Player of the Week on Sept. 6, after racking up racking up 136 assists, two assist-dig double-doubles and eight service aces in SMU’s four Sugar Loaf Classic matches.
• CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS: SMU boasts 752 kills (11.57 kps), 683 assists, 124 aces, 1,002 digs, and 74 blocks in 17 matches. … The Cardinals have recorded 60 or more kills in a match twice — posting 62 against Central-Iowa last Saturday, 65 against Monmouth on Sept. 16, and a season-high 66 at Buena Vista on Sept. 19 — while also tallying a season-high 61 assists against both Monmouth and Buena Vista. … SMU is 7-10 in the first set this season, while going 6-11 in the second, 7-10 in the third, 5-3 in the fourth, and 3-3 in the fifth. … SMU has played just two matches decided in four sets — beating Bethany Lutheran 3-1 on Sept. 9 and falling to Loras 3-1 on Sept. 15.

• FOR THE RECORD: The Bennies head into their weekend conference matches against Saint Mary’s and St. Scholastica sitting at 9-4 overall, including a perfect 2-0 showing in conference action.
• LAST ACTION: Emma Guest and Kali Jones each recorded double-doubles, as Saint Benedict picked up its second straight conference victory, beating St. Catherine 3-1 last Saturday in St. Paul, Minn.
• LEADERS OF THE PACK: With their 3-1 win over the Wildcats last Saturday, CSB moved into a three-way tie atop the conference standings at 2-0.
• ROAD WARRIORS: Friday’s match against Saint Mary’s is just the third home match of the season for the Bennies. CSB is 1-1 in its two home contests, while going 8-3 away from Claire Lynch Hall – including 7-3 in neutral-site contests.
• ON THE ATTACK: Saint Benedict heads into the weekend boasting three players who have already recorded 100 or more kills through 13 matches. Guest and Mackenzie Knofczynski share the team lead with 120 kills, while Brooke Andries is third on the squad with 105. … Knofczynski leads the team with six matches of 10 or more kills, while Guest has collected three 10+ kills performances. … Jones’ 19-kill effort against St. Catherine last Saturday was the team’s single-match season-high and matched her career best.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Audrey Spolidoro has accounted for 468 of the team’s 558 assists, and has dished out 20 or more helpers in all 13 contests this season. … Spolidoro owns four matches of 40+ assists, including a season- and career-high 62 assists against Washington (Mo.) University on Sept. 15. … With her 49 assists against St. Catherine last Saturday, Spolidoro is just six helpers away from 2,000 in her three-year collegiate career.
• DIGGING IT: Mackenzie McDonald leads the Bennies with 239 digs and is one of four CSB players to eclipse the 100-dig mark, being joined by Guest (153), Spolidoro (135), and Jones (125). … McDonald has recorded 10 or more digs in 12 of the team’s 13 matches — including six 20+ dig efforts. … McDonald delivered a season-high 27 digs against Eastern on Sept. 2.
• SERVING UP ACES: Saint Benedict has six players who own 10 or most services aces this season, led by Guest and Libby Burns with 19 aces each. McDonald is third on the squad with 15, followed by Spolidoro (12), Jones (11), and Chaeli Haupert (11).
• CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS: As a team, Saint Benedict owns 630 kills (11.67 kps), 558 assists, 92 aces, 854 digs, and 96 blocks through 13 matches…. CSB recorded single-match season-highs in kills (71), and assists (67) on Sept. 5, while posting a season-best 83 digs against both Pacific Lutheran (Sept. 1) and St. Catherine (Sept 23) and tallying a season-high 12 aces vs. Pacific Lutheran on Sept. 1 …. NEBRASKA WESLEYAN SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Prairie Wolves head into their nonconference weekend against Hamline, St. Olaf and Saint Mary’s sporting a 9-5 overall record through the season’s first 14 matches.
• LAST ACTION: Nebraska Wesleyan kicked off American Rivers Conference play on a high note Wednesday, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Simpson in Indianola, Iowa.
• ROAD WARRIORS: NWU has played 13 of its first 14 matches on the road this season, the lone exception, a 3-0 victory over York on Sept. 21. … The Prairie Wolves are 8-5 on the road — including 6-4 in neutral-site contests.
• SWEEPING UP: Nebraska Wesleyan has recorded 3-0 sweeps in eight of its nine wins this season, with the Prairie Wolves’ other win a 3-2 victory over Greenville on Sept. 9. On the flip side, NWU has only been swept twice in its five losses.
• ON THE ATTACK: The Prairie Wolves head into the weekend boasting three players who have amassed 100 or more kills through 14 matches. Addie Thomas leads the way for NWU with 177 kills, followed by Jaclyn Riedl (115) and Molly Ramirez (103). … Thomas has recorded 10 or more kills nine times this season, including a pair matches of 20+ kills. … Thomas delivered a season-high 22 kills against Greenville on Sept. 9 and owns a team-high five kill-dig double-doubles.

• SERVING UP ACES: Nebraska Wesleyan boasts five players who have reached double digits in service aces, led by Thomas with 21. Saathoff is second on the team with 19 aces, followed by Patten (15), Riedl (12), and Nyah Chambers (10).
• CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS: As a team, NWU has recorded 572 kills (11.67 kps), 540 assists, 97 aces, 734 digs, and 59 blocks. … Ten of the Prairie Wolves’ 14 matches have ended in sweeps, with NWU going 8-2 in those 10 contests. ST. OLAF SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Oles enter their Saturday matches against Northwestern and Saint Mary’s boasting an 8-4 overall record through 12 matches, including a perfect 2-0 mark in conference play.
• LAST ACTION: St. Olaf picked up its 18th win in 19 meetings all-time against Bethany Lutheran, cruising to a 3-0 victory Wednesday in Mankato, Minn.
• ROAD WARRIORS: St. Olaf has played 11 of its 12 matches this season on the road. The Oles picked up a 3-1 victory over Bethel on Sept. 22 in their only home contest, while sporting a 7-4 mark away from Skoglund Center — including a 4-3 showing in neutral-site matches.
• ON A ROLL: With their 3-0 win over Bethany Lutheran on Wednesday, the Oles extended their winning streak to four straight — including back-to-back-to-back 3-1 wins over the University of Dubuque, Bethel, and Hamline, and a 3-0 win over Bethany Lutheran.
• ON THE ATTACK: Anysia Caille and Catherine Moore have been a lethal one-two combination for the Oles, with the duo combining for 259 kills. Caille leads the team with 132 kills, five more than Moore, with Lilah Van Scoyoc a distant third on the squad with 89 kills. … Caille has delivered 10 or more kills in nine of the team’s 12 matches, while Moore has reached double figures in kills six times. … Moore owns the team’s top single-match performance, collecting 18 kills against Bethel on Sept. 22.

• SERVING UP ACES: Along with her 109 digs, Ryan leads the team with 25 aces and is one of four Oles who have reached double figures in aces, being joined by Rodriguez (20), Christophersen (13), and Fildew (12).
• CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS: As a team, St. Olaf has accumulated 582 kills (13.23 kps), 542 assists, 89 aces, 833 digs, and 61 blocks. … After opening the season 4-1, St. Olaf lost consecutive matches for the only time all season, falling to UW-River Falls (3-1), Coe (3-0), and Central-Iowa (3-2). … St. Olaf has played five matches decided in three sets, going 4-1, while sitting at 4-2 in four-set contests.
