MBB: Mallory named MIAC Player of Week

1/8/2024 1:01:00 PM

WINONA, Minn. — Cameron Mallory (Joliet, Ill.) has been one of the key cogs in the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team's offensive machine all season.

Last week was no exception, as the Cardinal junior poured in 47 points in two games — including a career-high 27-point performnace3 in SMU's dominant 83-56 win over Macalester last Saturday.

And Monday afternoon, Mallory was recognized for his efforts, being named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week when the league office announced its weekly winners.

Mallory kicked off his week with a 20-point, four-rebound performance in SMU's nail-biting 62-55 loss to Augsburg. Three days later, Mallory was at it again, pouring in a career-high 27 points on a sizzling 9 of 16 shooting in SMU's lopsided win over Macalester.

For the week, Mallory — who has now scored 20 or more points in six of SMU's 13 games — averaged 23.5 ppg, while also chipping in 13 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Mallory and the Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday, when they travel to Gustavus' Gus Young Court in St. Peter, Minn., for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Gusties.
