WINONA, Minn. - On a brisk Wednesday night, the Cardinals hosted the University of Wisconsin Stout in a non-conference game and would walk away with the win.

Early in the first half, the Cardinals struck first, with
Lauren Ashe taking a shot at the five minute mark. To follow,
Lauryn Skoruppa takes another shot attempt, but misses the goal.
Samantha Munson would take her own shot 13 minutes in, marking the third shot for the Cardinals to the Blue Devils none.

The Blue Devils would take control and bring the ball up the field and take their first shot of the game at the 17th minute.Â

The Cardinals would break through with another shot by Skoruppa at the 30th minute. One minute later, all the pressure would culminate and a high shot towards the left corner of the goal by
Hannah Bradley, and it would find the back of the net after a pass from Skoruppa, making it 1-0 Cardinals.

The goal marked her first goal of the season.

Stout wouldn't back and marched down the field and take their second shot of the game with four minutes left in the half, but it would miss the net.

The half would then end 1-0 in favor of Saint Mary's.

The Blue Devils would create their own momentum to start the half with a shot five minutes in. However, after a yellow card by Stout, Munson would take a penalty kick and send it towards the left corner, scoring the 2nd goal for the Cardinals, making it 2-0.

Stout would take it right back however with a goal at the 54th minute, making it 2-1.

The Cardinals would steal Stout's momentum and take the ball down field where
Dakota Leonard would shoot a shot, but it was blocked by a Stout defender.

After a long period of back and forth between both teams,
Kaylen Pray would find an opening and take a shot at the 78th minute, but it would go over the net.

Kristen Ladue would add on to the pressure with her own shot at the 80th minute mark, and it too would miss the goal.

After a couple of minutes, Stout would come alive and try to tie the game with a shot at the 88th minute, however it would get blocked. That would be the last attempt Stout had as the Cardinals defense would hold on and secure their seventh win of the season, making their record 7-2-3. With her goal tonight, Munson would raise her season total to five.

The Cardinals will be heading to Arden Hills, MN on Saturday, October 12th to take on the Bethel Royals in a conference match.
