WINONA, Minn. – On Saturday afternoon, the Saint Mary's women's hockey team faced Concordia Wisconsin to round out their double header weekend at home. The Cardinals fell to the Falcons by one, 4-3.

After the Cardinals tallied a monster win Friday afternoon and were looking to repeat themselves. Senior
Allie Urlaub struck first for the game with an early goal at the third minute.
Reese Heitzman skated down the left to find a wide open Urlaub down the middle and took the one goal lead. The Cardinals seemed to be in control and took the next seven shots of the period. The Falcons capitalized off a face off win and tied the game before the end of the period.

Both teams earned themselves a power play to start the second period, neither team capitalizing on the advantage. The Cardinals netted the first goal of the period, a trend for the team, to take the one goal lead after a goal by
Mikayla Vasilevich. Heitzman with her second assist of the game. Vasilevich had a rifle of a shot from the top right of the zone that nailed the top left of the net with remarkable aim.

Concordia immediately turned around an tied the game at two, nine minutes into the period. Back-and-forth the teams went and trading shots, the Falcons took their first lead of the game and the weekend at the 17
th minute of the second period.

The Cardinals were facing defeat as they trailed for the first time this season going into the third.
Kas Kingston had a shot on goal as the Cardinals tried to take advantage of the power play but resulted in a save. The Falcons took a two-goal lead four minutes into the period on a two on two play. Only five minutes remained as the Cardinals trailed. Vasilevich found the puck straight down the middle, in similar fashion to her first goal to get the Cardinals within one. Assisted again by Heitzman, who has assisted on each goal

Saint Mary's could not get it passed the jam packed Falcons defense and the Cardinals went on to split the weekend with Concordia.

The Cardinals are back in action Tuesday, November 5
th traveling to the ranked UW-Eau Claire Blugolds for a 7 p.m. game.
