WINONA, Minn. - Saint Mary's University sent a program record three players to the 2024 United Soccer Coaches All-Region IX list, as the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon. Senior defender
Dakota Leonard was a first-team selection, junior forward
Lauryn Skoruppa was a second-team selection, and senior defender
Maya Wachter tabbed a third-team selection.

Leonard contributed to the team's 11 shutouts, starting every match and scoring three goals on the season—making her just the second defender in the conference to accomplish this. The senior played a key role in leading her team to the program's first conference championship game, contributing significantly to the strong defensive unit that anchored the Cardinals.

With this honor, the Cardinal defender secured a spot on the All-Region First-Team for the first time of her career and added to her recognition as the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).

Skoruppa is also making her first appearance on the All-Region Second Team. She received this award along with receiving the prestigious title of 2024 MIAC Offensive Player of the Year. She played in all 21 matches, leading the team with 12 goals, the second-most in the conference. The forward also ranked fourth in the conference with 28 total points, adding four assists. Skoruppa led her team with a .649 shooting percentage on goal.

Wachter was the final Cardinal to notch All-Region honors, landing a Third-Team selection and her second time on an All-Region team notching Second-Team in 2022. The senior played a crucial role in the Cardinals' strong defense, contributing to eight shutouts as part of the team's solid back line.

Wachter earned MIAC Honorable Mention for the fourth consecutive year, marking a standout achievement in each season of her Cardinal career. She started every game in the 2024 season, logging a team-high 1,851 minutes. By the end of the season, she will have accumulated 6,518 minutes over her four-year career, making her the program leader in total minutes played.
