Men’s Soccer Shuts out Beloit

WINONA, Minn. – The men's soccer team hosted and won the first game of the season against the Beloit Buccaneers.

Daniel Sessler made two early saves to keep the Bucs scoreless in the first half. After the early scare, the Cardinals had control of the rest of the half. At the 13:28 mark in the first, Mason Mueller broke the tie with a slotted ball sneaking under the arm of the keeper.

Back and forth play was how the second half started as both teams settled for mishits and shots. The Cardinals took triple the amount of shots on goal and attempts as the Bucs.

After multiple set pieces by the Bucs late in the second half, the Cardinals back line held strong clearing each aggressive chance the Bucs took.

The Cardinals held onto that early lead for their first win of the season.

The next Cardinal game is Tuesday at Bethany Luthern for a 7pm start.
