Men’s Soccer Shutout By The Johnnies

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Cardinal men's soccer team traveled to Saint John's University as they were looking to snap their three-game losing streak. The Cardinals could not contain the Johnnies offense as they lost on the road 5-0.

The Johnnies seemed to control the first 15 minutes of the game as they had taken seven shots to test the Cardinals early. The first shot by the Cardinals was at the 17th minute mark by Sebastian Martinez, saved by the keeper.

The Johnnies took the lead shortly after off a tough corner kick. The Cardinals down 1-0.

Cohan Hare took a free kick outside the box that had a chance to tie but it was saved by the Johnnies at the 24th minute. The Johnnies netted another goal at the end of the half adding to the 14 shot attempts in the first alone.

Cardinals down two at the half.

After an extended halftime due to the sprinkler system, the Cardinals gave up a quick goal falling 3-0 at the 47th minute. Looking to get their offense going, Francesco Cardone and Eh Mu had a shot and a save, but the Johnnies struck back twice more to take a commanding 5-0 lead.

Cohan Hare had three shots on goal to lead the Cardinals and goal keeper, Daniel Sessler, ended with five saves.

The Cardinal men's soccer team returns to action Wednesday, October 2nd for a 7 p.m. start at the Och.
