WINONA, Minn. — The fall seasons have officially wrapped up, and we are a few games deep into the winter seasons.
2025 CROSS COUNTRY SEASON WRAPS UP
The injury prone cross country team pulled together their final race of the year at the NCAA North Regional Championships held in Colfax, Wis., in attempts to send some athletes to the NCAA DIII Championships.
It was a stacked regional and although putting up their best efforts, the Cardinals fell short. Mya Slavin was snubbed of a trip to the Championships falling two places behind qualifying but It was an extremely successful season for the young Cardinals who look ahead to an exciting indoor track and field season.
MEN'S HOCKEY HIGH SCORING AFFAIRS
To open up conference action, the Saint Mary's men's hockey team (4-1-1, 2-0-0) played Hamline this past weekend. The Cardinals took it to the Pipers, lighting up a big 6-2 win at home on Friday night with six separate Cardinals scoring. They then turned around, traveling to St. Paul, where they won by an even bigger margin 7-2 for the conference sweep!
Now, the Cardinals enjoy a bye-week before traveling to MSOE next Tuesday, November 25, for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.
WOMEN'S HOCKEY FACES ST. CATHERINE
The Cardinal women's hockey team (1-3-0, 0-2-0) had a tough outing against the No.12-ranked Hamline Pipers this last weekend leading to being swept in the series. The team looks to regroup and face their next challenge, St. Catherine Wildcats.
The Cardinals will play at 6:00 p.m. on Friday before hosting the Wildcats on Saturday, November 22 for a 3:00 p.m. matchup to close the weekend.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SECOND WEEK OF ACTION
Last week was the first official week of the 2025-26 women's basketball (1-1) season. The Cardinal women's basketball team opened the year with a win over North Central, 80-57, before falling in a tightly contested game to the No.15-ranked UW-La Crosse Eagles, 70-59.
With the first week under their belt, the Cardinals saw what they are capable of and will now have their first road contest traveling to Crown College on Wednesday, November 19, at 7:00 p.m. before hosting Bethany Lutheran at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
MEN'S BASKETBALL SPLIT WEEK
The young Saint Mary's men's basketball team (0-3) is still in search of the first win of the season after two tough games last week. The team fell in a back-and-fourth battle to Martin Luther before losing a gritty battle to a good North Central Rams team.
Now, the Cardinals next game is on the road taking on Bethany Lutheran on Tuesday, November 18, at 7:00 p.m. They will then return home to take on Crown College Saturday, November 22 for a 1:00 p.m. tip.
