WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Saint Mary's baseball team (9-8) completed their non-conference schedule with a trip to the University of Wisconsin Whitewater (9-0), the top-ranked team in the nation, on Wednesday afternoon. The Cardinals were defeated 13-0 as they were unable to find the offense needed.

After a first inning shutout, the Cardinals struggled to respond in the second inning, remaining hitless through the first two frames, while the Warhawks built a 4-0 lead.

Whitewater continued to apply pressure throughout the fourth and sixth inning to extend the lead to 6-0 and then 7-0 as the Cardinals continued to struggle offensively.

The seventh inning saw Whitewater break the game open with a four-run surge.Â

Despite
Rheis Johnson,
Nikolai Niemela, and
Sam Knickerbocker getting a single each in the ninth inning, the Cardinals were unable to bring any runners home, concluding the game with a final score of 13-0.

The Cardinals will put this game behind them and focus on the upcoming conference play. This Friday, they will host Concordia College for a doubleheader, starting at 1:00 p.m.
