20 Cardinal Hockey Players Named AHCA All-Scholars

WINONA, Minn. - In its ninth year, the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) recognized varsity ice hockey players for outstanding academic achievement during the 2024–25 season with the announcement of the Krampade All-American Scholars. 
 
To qualify, student-athletes needed to earn a 3.75 GPA or higher in each semester and participate in at least 40% of their team's games. Exceptions were made for injured players and backup goaltenders. 
 
Saint Mary's University honored a total of 20 Cardinal players for their academic excellence, nine from the women's team and 11 from the men's team.

After two highly successful seasons, the women's hockey team hosted and won the first conference playoff game, earning eight conference honors along the way. Meanwhile, the men's team delivered an electrifying five-game winning streak and collected three conference honors.

Below are the Cardinals earning this prestigious award:

WOMEN'S HOCKEY: Audrey Abeln (St. Charles, Missouri), Taryn Dornseif (Somerset, Wisconsin), Reese Heitzman (Hermantown, Minnesota), Alexa March (Stillwater, Minnesota), Kenzie Meland (Princeton, Minnesota), Sophia Paduano (Westby, Wisconsin), Teagan Phillips (Oregon, Wisconsin), Taverie Sherner (Maple Grove, Minnesota), and Riley Vander Esch (Sioux Falls, South Dakota).

MEN'S HOCKEY: Connor Abric (Hayward, Wisconsin), Markus Andrews (Stockholm, Sweden), Jake Cameron (Victoria, Minnesota), Blake Campbell (Kellar, Texas), Alex Cannon (South Bend, Indiana), Liam McInnis (Regina, Saskatchewan), Cole Mickel (Castle Rock, Colorado), Callahan Nauss (Maple Plain, Minnesota), Gabe Potyk (Lake Orion, Michigan), Colin Tushie (Prior Lake, Minnesota), and Warner Young (Newberry, Michigan).
