WINONA, Minn. - Wrapping up the fall sports lineup, the Saint Mary's women's soccer team is set to kick off the 2025 season this Friday. Coming off a highly successful campaign that was highlighted by the program's first-ever appearance in the MIAC Championship game and its best record since 1993 at 14-3-4, the Cardinals are eager to build on that momentum.

The Cardinals will head to northern Minnesota to open the season against Morris on Friday, August 29 at 3:00 p.m. After that, they'll return home for a busy week, beginning with their home opener on Labor Day against UW-Platteville at 6:00 p.m. The homestand continues with back-to-back nonconference matchups on Friday and Saturday.

The 2025 slate of conference games is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 16. 

Several key returners are poised to make a strong impact this season. 

Head Coach Nick Rizzo, the reigning MIAC Coach of the Year, returns for his sixth season to lead a team full of potential. Among the standout players returning are Lauryn Skoruppa, last season's MIAC Offensive Player of the Year and team's leading scorer, along with All-Conference honorees Malerie Williams and Lauren Ashe.

The Cardinals will look to close out their regular season on Friday, November 1, when they host Gustavus Adolphus at 3:30 p.m. for Senior Day. The MIAC Playoff Tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 3, and will run through the championship game on Saturday, November 8, with an automatic NCAA Tournament bid on the line.

It is set to be an amazing year for this soccer team, who got a brand new field at Ochrymowycz Field, and we cannot wait to see the fans cheer them on.
