BELOIT, Wis. — On Sunday afternoon, the Saint Mary's women's soccer team (7-1-0) put on a show at Strong Soccer Field, steamrolling Beloit College (1-5-1) with a commanding 5-0 win. The Cardinals came out firing, literally, unleashing 28 shots, 20 of which were on target, in a dominant display of offense and control.
The Cardinals came out flying, and before the Bucs could even catch their breath, Lauryn Skoruppa buried a goal just 25 seconds in!
To keep the pressure going, Kaelyn Clasen netted her first career goal in the 27th minute, assisted by Anna Warneke, extending the lead to 2-0.
Hannah Bradley converted a penalty kick in the 36th minute, further solidifying Saint Mary's advantage.
Beloit struggled to break through the Cardinals defense, with McKenzie Munson in net keeping the Cardinals ahead at the half.
The Cardinals dominated the second half against the Bucs, beginning with Bradley scoring again in the 49th minute, extending their lead to 4-0. Despite Beloit's attempts to push forward, Saint Mary's maintained offensive pressure with multiple shots on target, forcing Beloit's Kaya Williams to make several key saves.
At the 73rd minute, Peyton Maier, who scored her first goal as a Cardinal, converted a penalty kick, sealing the 5-0 victory for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals made the most of their big win by spreading the playing time around as 33 different players saw action on the field today.
Munson held it down between the posts, earning her second shutout of the season.
