WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's men's basketball team (1-14, 0-6 MIAC) came up short against Concordia-Moorhead (10-4, 2-3 MIAC), falling 76–58 Saturday afternoon at David R. Thies Arena.
The Cardinals found success attacking the paint with 26 points inside, but 14 turnovers proved costly as the Cobbers turned mistakes into momentum.
Saint Mary's came out sharp, jumping to a quick 6–0 lead behind a Reid Klug three-pointer and a strong finish from Jackson Harvey, who added a free throw to cap the opening run.
The Cobbers answered quickly, evening the score at 8–8 midway through the half. Harvey continued to lead the Cardinals offensively, scoring at multiple points in the half, including a late layup and jumper.
Despite his production, the Cobbers took advantage of turnovers and pulled away late, carrying a 41–30 lead into halftime.
Harvey kept the Cardinals competitive after the break, pouring in 14 second-half points. His three-pointer at the 14:08 mark and a fast-break layup moments later provided a spark, but Concordia-Moorhead maintained control throughout the half.
Klug knocked down a three in the final seconds, yet the Cobbers outscored Saint Mary's 35–28 in the second half to secure the 76–58 win.
Harvey delivered a standout performance, leading the Cardinals with 26 points for a career high, and pulling down 16 rebounds. Reid Weckwerth added 14 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc while grabbing seven rebounds.
The Cardinals will turn their focus to the Augsburg Auggies in St. Paul on Wednesday, Jan. 14 for a 7:00 p.m. tip off.
