WINONA, Minn. — We have finally hit that point of the winter season where we add another sport to the mix! Not only do we continue to cheer on our basketball teams and our hockey teams, the indoor track and field season is here.

TRACK AND FIELD AT TWIN PORTS MEET

This Saturday, Jan. 17, the Saint Mary's track and field team kick start their 2026 indoor season campaign in Superior, Wisconsin. The team will compete in the Twin Ports Open that is set for all day as the team has high hopes for the young talent.

ONE GAME WEEK FOR MEN'S BASKETBALL

After two tight conference games, the Saint Mary's men's basketball team (1-14, 0-6) was unable to convert their first conference wins against Bethel or Concordia.

They turn their focus to a one game week this week as they get set to travel to Augsburg on Wednesday, Jan. 14 for a 7:00 p.m. tip off in Si Melby Hall in Minneapolis.

BIG WEEK FOR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

It is and was a big week for the Saint Mary's women's basketball team as the Cardinals faced No. 22 Bethel last Wednesday and dropped the league matchup by one point before turning around for a stellar performance hosting and taking down No.25 Concordia 63-51 for the team's first win over a ranked opponent this season.

The Cardinals will now face Augsburg on Wednesday, Jan 14 for a 7:00 p.m. tip off at home before traveling to St. Catherine on Saturday, Jan. 17 for a 1:00 p.m. game time in St. Paul.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY CONFERENCE WEEKEND

The Saint Mary's women's hockey team (6-6-0, 2-4-0) had a nonconference weekend versus the No.9 UW-Eau Claire Blugolds last weekend where they completed the upset on Friday, Jan. 9 with a 2-1 win in front of a home crowd before getting shutout yesterday.

Now, the Cardinals will face another ranked opponent, this time in conference. The team is set to host No. 8 Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, Jan 16 for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop before traveling to St. Peter on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. game time.

NONCONFERENCE WEEKEND

After a busy three game week for the Saint Mary's men's hockey team (6-6-1, 3-3-0), the Cardinals will be on the road all week to round out their nonconference slate. The Cardinals were swept in two tightly contested contests against the Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus this weekend.

Now, they will travel to Beloit College for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop this Friday, Jan. 16 before hitting the road again on Saturday to face UW-River Falls for yet another 7:05 p.m. puck drop to close out the weekend on the road.
