WINONA, Minn. – It's a packed week on the Hill, as Cardinal Athletics gears up for a full slate of winter competition. With nearly every program in action, fans will want to mark their calendars and get ready for an exciting stretch.

Tennis Returns to the Courts

After a 126-day layoff since opening the season on Sept. 13 against Bethany Lutheran, the Saint Mary's tennis programs are back in action. The 2026 season officially resumes this Saturday as the Cardinals host Martin Luther at 1:30 p.m., followed by a men's matchup against Lawrence later in the day for a doubleheader.

The men will cap off a busy three-match weekend on Sunday, Jan. 25, with a 4:00 p.m. match.

Track and Field Heads to La Crosse

Saint Mary's track and field is rolling after a dominant season-opening meet in Superior, highlighted by four event victories. The Cardinals will look to build on that momentum Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Pat Healy Classic, hosted by UW–La Crosse. Events begin at noon.

Men's Basketball Returns from the Bye

Coming off a one-game week that ended in a loss to Augsburg, the men's basketball team(1-15, 0-7) is set for two key conference matchups. The Cardinals will host St. Olaf on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in a Night in the Nest doubleheader alongside the women's program. The goal is simple: pack the arena and bring the energy.

Saint Mary's will then hit the road Saturday, Jan. 24, traveling to Collegeville for a 3:00 p.m. tipoff against Saint John's.

Women's Basketball Home Stand

The women's basketball team (12-3, 6-2) returns home after splitting a pair of conference games last week, earning a win over Augsburg before a hard-fought loss to St. Catherine. The Cardinals open their home stand Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against St. Olaf as part of Night in the Nest.

Saturday will also mark Alumni Day, as Saint Mary's welcomes Saint Benedict for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Jan. 24.

Men's Hockey Shifts Back to Conference Play

The men's hockey team (7-7-1, 3-3-0) wrapped up nonconference action with an 8–1 win over Beloit before falling to UW–River Falls. The focus now turns to MIAC play, beginning with a home matchup against Saint John's on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals will then travel to Collegeville for a rematch Saturday night, also set for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.

Women's Hockey Hosts Saint Benedict

After a dramatic weekend featuring two extended shootouts against 11th-ranked Gustavus, the Cardinals (6-6-2, 2-4-2) split the series and now turn their attention to Saint Benedict. Saint Mary's will host the Bennies Friday, Jan. 23, at 7:00 p.m., followed by a Saturday afternoon matchup at 3:00 p.m.
