GREENWOOD, Ind. – John Palmer (Faribault, Minn./Fairbault) of the Saint Mary's men's basketball team held his own as the lone Cardinal earning the prestigious College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors for the first time in his career.

Academic All-District honorees must be at least sophomores, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and meet all sport-specific eligibility requirements. Each institution was permitted to nominate up to four student-athletes.

Palmer, the sophomore guard, stood out in the classroom and on the court with an impressive 3.8 GPA to lead his team and played in all but one game for the Cardinals with 24.

He averaged 8.0 points a game for the team for 151 points this season, with 51 total assists. 

The psychology major had a standout season as one of the lead guards for the team as they finished 1-24 this season and looking to bounce back next season.
