Cardinals Close Out Season Against Hamline

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's men's tennis team wrapped up its 2026 season on Friday afternoon, falling 7-0 to conference opponent Hamline in a MIAC matchup.

The Pipers opened the day by sweeping all three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. The Cardinals' top pairing of Gavin Pratt and Michael Johnson battled but came up short with injuries along the way, 6-2, while the duos of Paul Havemeier and Kanyon Hicks and Zak Farley and Owen Fonder were also unable to gain momentum against strong Hamline performances.

In singles play, the Cardinals continued to compete but were unable to break through.

Hamline secured straight-set victories across all six courts to complete the sweep. Michael Johnson put together a competitive showing at No. 3 singles, while Paul Havemeier and Owen Fonder each battled in tightly contested sets, but the Pipers maintained control throughout.

With the loss, the Cardinals close their season at 4-14 overall, while Hamline improves to 5-13.

Despite the result, the match marked the conclusion of a season that featured growth and valuable experience for the years to come.
