WINONA, Minn. – Emily Bauer has been named as the new head women's hockey coach for Saint Mary's University, as announced by Saint Mary's Athletics Director Brian Sisson.

"We are thrilled to welcome Emily to the Cardinal family and lead our women's hockey program forward," said Sisson. "She stands out as one of the up and coming female coaches in the sport and is familiar with the region, having both played and coached at this level, and she will be a great asset to our program."  

The Wausau, Wis., native joins the staff after serving as the head assistant coach at Lawrence University over the past two seasons. In that role, she played an integral part in recruiting, scheduling, player development, and practice planning.

Bauer arrives at Saint Mary's with five years of coaching experience as she was the head coach for a premier 19U hockey team, Wisconsin Selects, where she led the team to two National Tournament appearances, was the 2021 National Runner-Up, two State Championships, and two Central District Championships. Notably, she led that program to a national title in 2024.

"I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead the Saint Mary's Women's Hockey program," said Bauer "I am thankful to Brian Sisson and Saint Mary's for putting their trust in me."

Bauer is also no stranger to collegiate hockey in the Upper Midwest. She was a four-year student-athlete at University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, where she earned her degree in Business Administration while helping the Blugolds to some of the most successful seasons in program history. During her collegiate career, UW-Eau Claire secured two conference postseason tournament championships and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Now stepping into one of the premier conferences in Division III hockey, Bauer is eager to continue the tradition and momentum of the Cardinals program.

"I am excited to get started, meet the team, and build on the success of the program!"

Bauer will officially begin her duties as head coach on June 8.
