SAINT PETER, Minn. – Returning for the first time since the 2023 fall season, the Saint Mary's (1-1) women's tennis team competed in the highly competitive ITA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus this past weekend.
The Cardinals faced competition from St. Olaf, Gustavus Adolphus, Concordia (MN), UW-Stevens Point, UW-River Falls, Luther, Loras, and UW-Eau Claire.Â
Although singles competition did not go as planned with each Cardinal falling in the round of 128, the doubles action stepped up.
Harsha Ganagasani and Maddie Jensen each defeated their Concordia (MN) opponents in round one of doubles 8-3 on Friday before falling to UW-River Falls on Saturday, 8-5.
Emily Dondelinger and Olivia Molumby defeated their St. Norbert opponent 8-6 on Friday before dropping their round of 32 matchup against UW-Stevens Point 8-4.
Looking Ahead
The Cardinals wrapped up their fall season and take the winter to prep for the busy winter/spring season. The team will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 23, hosting Martin Luther.
