Senior / Pitcher / Rochester, Minn. / Public Relations Major

Over the past for years I have gained countless memories that I will never forget. Even though we were unable to win as many games as we would have like it still have been an amazing experience. I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to put on the cardinal uniform and play in this baseball program.

I would like to start by thanking my parents for all of the love and support they have given me over the years. Also thank you for all of the hours that you have spent traveling to all of my different sporting events and taking me to practices. Mom thank you for taking numerous days off from work to come and watch me play down in Florida, Arizona, and back here in Minnesota. It was always nice know that no matter where we were playing that you would be there to support us. Dad, you know that you have been one of the biggest influences in my life. On and off the field you have helped me develop the skills to be a successful person in life. Also I will always cherish all the memories that we have made together. You both are the best parents anyone could ask for!

I would also like to thank my grandparents for the support they have given me over the years. You guys spend your whole year following me and the teams I have played for around. Also when my parents were unable to make it to games or give me a ride to practices I always knew that I could count on you to be there for me. I would have to say that you guys are my biggest fan because I think I can count on one hand the number of games you have missed of mine since I have in little league all the way up through college. Thank you for always being there for me!

To my little brother Tanner, without you I wouldn’t be the person I am today. It has truly been a pleasure being your older brother. I thank you for all the hunting and fishing memories that we have shared together over the year. Hopefully there will many more in the up coming years. You are always there for me when I need someone to talk to or just someone to spend time with. You are the best little brother anyone could have!

To my girlfriend Megan, thank you for your support over the past three years. You have always been then for me even if I had a bad game. Thank you for coming to basically all of my baseball games over the summers and even taking time off of work to come to Arizona to watch me play.

To the SMU coaches, Coach Winecke thanks for giving me the opportunity to pitch in your baseball program. You have really changed this program around over the past two seasons. I know that you will continue to push this program in the right direction. Coach Jake, this year has been great having you as our pitching coach. You have played a key role in my success this season and I thank you for that. I had a blast working with you this year and I only wish I had a few more years left to work with you. Coach Schmidt, it was on honor to play here at SMU with you. Also you are doing a great job with the catchers in this program. Thanks to all the coaches in this program for all of their hard work. You guys have the right mind set to get this program back to where it belongs and that is at the top of the conference.

To my fellow seniors, these past four years have be an honor to play along side of you guys. I know it been hard since we haven’t won as many games as we all had hoped for. I will always remember all the memories that we have shared together on a off the baseball field. Swenny “od, o dell, o dwell, old e, and old l.” I will never forget all of those Tuesday nights that we shared together with the crew out on the town. Also thanks for being one of the best hunting partners that I have had in my life. You are also one of the best Muskie guides I know because you were able to put me on one of those trophy fish. Krause Pump I had a blast being your roommate for three years of my college career. Some things may not be remembered about our career here at SMU but I know no one will ever forget that epic homerun that Kirby Carr hit off of you. You my friend will be talked about in the SMU baseball program for ever because I don’t think anyone will be able to out do what you did. Willy “Phil” I finally thought that I would be able to get away from you for a long time but now I can’t since you have now joined the greatest baseball team ever  The Township. You are also one of the key components to the Tuesday night crew. Kyle “KR” your Halloween costume is one of a kind because you don’t even have to dress up. You will always be remembered for the dumb little jump thing that you do over the baseline. David “DD” it has been an honor to be your catch partner this year. Also I know that you always have a lot on your mind so “Do you want to talk about it?” You have really pushed me over the past few years to become a better baseball and I thank you for that.  Also I congratulate on completing the Ground Round challenge. Arch you maybe one of the funniest kids that I know. I have no idea where you come up with some of those one liners but keep them coming. Also I hope some day we can enjoy some of those famous Walleye Choppers. Dinger you will always be remembered for your stunts in Omaha. You are one of the best catchers that I have ever thrown to.  I am looking forward to getting that connection back together again during Township ball.

Joe Dell you successfully are bigger then all of the other mica school’s little guys. I am so glad you choose to sit in the back sit of my car the day of the ice storm otherwise you may have been injured in that crash with the cop car. Rew I will never forget that morning we drove through Atlanta just after that tornado when it was just you, me, and Swenny awake on that 28 hour bus trip. We will always be friends even though you still for those clowns out there in Stillwater. Bogie thanks for all of the slumber parties that we have had over the years. You are also a key member to the Tuesday night crew that will forever be remembered. Gary Congrats on the SMU record I don’t think that your record will ever be broken. I swear now every time you get a kid 0-2 they cringe in fear that they may wear a fastball in the back. Ruf  it has been a pleasure to pitch along side you this season. Keep up all the hard work and be the leader of the staff for the next couple of years. Churt you are one of the biggest dusters that I know and that is why you are the captain of the duster squad. Also thanks for all of your hard work behind the dish. Lech you are a little shit but keep up all of the hard work. Step up next year and be the leader of this squad everyone is looking up to you. Danny “Spalding” you are the best boyfriend in the whole world. HAHA.

To everyone returning to the program keep up all of the hard work. You guys have the ability to get this program back on the right track. Make sure that you have fun and enjoy the rest of your time as members on the SMU baseball program.
