A Word From Coach Mannor
Ingrid Klockars:?One of the most satisfying aspects of coaching is being able to watch players develop both on and off the ice. In Ingrid’s case, the development started with baby steps. Simply keeping her on campus during her freshman year, when she wanted to go home every day, was an accomplishment. Seeing her back on campus her sophomore year after a summer at home was, honestly, surprising. A surprise that I was happy to have!!?Witnessing Ingrid develop into the individual she is today has been nothing short of rewarding. As a hockey player, when she gets ahold of a shot, watch out. As a teammate, one would be hard pressed to find someone who cares more about her team and exemplifies “Cardinal Pride” more than Ingrid does.
Dy Stewart:?I first met Dy when she was 10 years old and attending the Saint Mary’s Hockey Camp. Even at that young age, it was obviously apparent that she was a student of the game. A player willing to listen to her coaches and apply what they had to offer in order to improve her individual skills and overall game. As a result, she has twice been named MIAC All-Conference during her two years with the team. A player like Dy can never be replaced within a program, but rather her work ethic, discipline both on and off the ice, and desire to achieve team success will always be a beacon for future Cardinals to follow.
Cierra Lopis: My first correspondence with Cierra was her emailing me indicating her interest in our program. I responded that I had seen her play and although I was impressed with her energy, I was concerned with her size. The response I received in return was, well, rather passionate. Listed in the program at an exaggerated 5-0, “C” has never let her size deter her from playing the game that she loves. A hardworking forechecker, “C” inspires her teammates through her work ethic, encouraging them to perform at their utmost every time they step on the ice.
Erin Johnson-Buscemi:?“Birds of a feather flock together.” This was the saying that the team put on their “Super Fan” t-shirts this season. Sometimes in the flock a single bird can be seen as uniquely their own. This is the case with Erin, or as the team affectionately refers to her, EJB. A true individual in every sense of the word, EJB has never conformed to ideals and thoughts that are not her own. What you get from EJB remains a constant regardless of the situation. An extremely hard-working teammate, she has earned the respect of everyone who has had the chance to play with her. Although her game stats may be a little more difficult to find, she has proven to be as big a part of this team as anyone.
