A Word from Coach Moore

The men’s hockey team has three graduating seniors that are tremendous examples of student-athletes. Whether it is on the ice or in the classroom, these three young men possess the characteristics needed to be successful in life: hard-work, commitment, dedication, loyalty, as wells as many others.

Ben Kitzmiller transferred to Saint Mary’s before his sophomore year. He has been a three year regular for our defensive unit and serves as an alternate captain. In addition to his great leadership, he has been the physical presence that is a must in every successful program. Ben’s determination and toughness shows by the fact that he had knee surgery the second week of January and battled through the rehabilitation to get back in the line-up three weeks later. That grit and toughness is something that we will miss. Graduating as an environmental biology major, the Cardinals players and staff want to thank Ben for his hard work and wish him all of the best in the future.

Chase Marshall has been very determined during his career. He started out on the junior varsity during his freshman year. Sophomore year, he made varsity until wrist surgery ended his very brief season. After rehabilitating the wrist, Chase returned to the varsity during his junior year. Beginning his senior year, Chase had to overcome having surgery again. He returned to the line-up after being cleared by the medical staff. His love of the game and true determination has made him an offensive threat on this year’s team. Graduating as an entrepreneurship management major, the Cardinals players and staff want to thank Chase for his hard work and wish him all of the best in the future.

Blake Zemaitis is one of the few players in college hockey that did not play junior hockey. After two great year’s with our junior varsity program, Blake’s great determination, hard work, and tremendous skill has made him a vital component of our defensive unit. He has a wonderful combination of offensive and defensive skill that makes him a player we will miss very badly. The athletic department and our coaching staff is very proud of Blake for making the Dean’s List first semester. Graduating as an accounting major, the Cardinals players and staff want to thank Blake for his hard work and wish him all of the best in the future.
