Ben Bids Farewell

As my senior season comes to an end, so does a chapter in my life that I will never forget. Hockey has held a special place in my heart for as long as I can remember and will be hard to let go. People always say that these times will fly by, but I never really understood that until now.

My time here at Saint Mary’s has presented many ups and downs within the game, but has been a great ride. The wins and losses all seem to blend together, but are only a fraction of the memories that I will take with me. The road trips, bus rides, practices and hanging out in the locker room have been some of my best memories. Coming to the rink was an opportunity to escape from school work and play a game with a group of guys that all loved it the same. I will cherish these memories for the rest of my life.

I would like to thank my parents, because none of this would have been possible without their support. From driving countless hours to and from the rink since I was 3, to supporting me all the way to the end, thank you. I know it wasn’t easy and I appreciate it so much.

I would also like to thank the friends that I have made here for all the great times we have had. Hanging out in the locker room after practice and getting a little crazy in the old village together are times that can never be forgotten.

Finally, I would like to thank the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play at the collegiate level. Win, lose or tie, nothing can replace being able to step on that ice every day as a Cardinal.
