Blake Bids Farewell

Blake Bids Farewell

Looking back, the past four years have really flown by. A lot has happened throughout my stay here at Saint Mary’s, but the most memorable will always be playing hockey. I started playing hockey when I was about five years old. Back then it was just a game. It has evolved into so much more than that for me. It has become a lifestyle which I believe will impact me for the rest of my life. I would like to take the time to thank the people in my life who have made playing hockey possible and enjoyable.

First, I have to thank my parents. My parents signed me up for hockey when I was young and I have never stopped playing so I would like to thank them for taking the initiative of getting me involved in the game early on. Whether it was early practices or tournaments hours away, they were always supportive and willing to make things work. Thanks for all of the support and contributions that made hockey possible for me.

Next, I would like to thank my grandparents and brother, Ken. Growing up my favorite memories were having the opportunity to play in front of them. They inspired me to play my best and continue to improve.

I would also like to thank my roommates and close friends throughout my stay here at Saint Mary’s. I do not know what I would do without you guys. There are so many good memories that I have here that I know would not be possible without your friendship, support, and sense of humor.

Last, I would like to thank, encourage, and wish good luck upon my team and coaching staff. You are a great group of guys, on and off the ice, and have the ability to do well in the future with hard work and concentration. I would like to thank the coaches for the chance to play NCAA hockey and for constantly pushing me to get better. Finally I would like to thank my past and present teammates for all of the great memories in and out of season. Remember to live it up on and off the ice, because before you know it you will wish you were a freshman again.
