Matt Bids Farewell
I would like to start off by thanking all the people that helped me acquire the luxury of playing college basketball at a great school such as Saint Mary’s University. I want to thank my father, Greg, and my mother, Cathy, for their continuous support throughout my career as both a basketball player and a scholar. You both have made a lot of sacrifices to give me this opportunity, and I will always appreciate what you both have done for me. I also want to thank my brother, Brad, who also has provided great support for me playing basketball. Especially, when you beat me up on the court as kids, you showed me the effort it took to be a good player. Next, I would like to thank all of my grandparents for their interest and support of my college career. I always loved the times you all were able to attend my games because you made them special. Finally, I want to thank my girlfriend, Steph, and her family for their support throughout my college career. College basketball has been a great experience for me, but what made it extra special was all of those cheering me on.
Next, I would like to thank all my fellow seniors. It has been a long and winding road but I believe we came out better men because of it. I will always cherish the time we spent together on and off the court. Because, let’s face it we are the most fun team in the MIAC!
Ryan – It has been a fun four years with you. Luckily, I got the opportunity to live with you freshman year and really get to know you as a person. I wish you the best of luck both as a teacher and a basketball coach. I know for sure you are going to be a great coach because of your knowledge and desire of the game. I hope to one day be watching you coach from the sidelines.
Lukas – It has been a great pleasure of mine to play with a great basketball player such as you. However, you are a jerk… ha ha just kidding. I have loved all four years that I have gotten to know you because frankly, you’re a funny kid. I’m going to miss the time we got to spend on the basketball court. I know that more good times are to come.
Will – I also want to say what a pleasure it was to be able to play with you on the basketball court. It has been a great opportunity to become your friend on and off the court. We have had some great times, especially on that ol’ Xbox of yours. I wish you the best of luck with your next step in life and I know I’ll see you down the road.
Pat (aka “Nature Boy”) – Too many funny moments to recall. One, however, I don’t think I will ever forget, the Nebraska trip (I think that’s all I need to say). It has been an awesome four years with you. Hopefully, this summer we will get out on that golf course, drink some beers, and whack that ball around for awhile.
Gary (aka “Desmond”) – Hey buddy we made it! You have been a good friend on and off the court despite your goofiness. It has been awesome to have you on the team again the past couple of years, and I’m glad you came back after that knee injury. I have really enjoyed watching you get your game back this year, and it has been great to play alongside of you.
I also can’t forget about the rest of my fellow teammates. I wish you the best of luck in your remaining years at Saint Mary’s. Work hard and we all will be supporting you.
Rod – It has been awesome to watch you develop as a basketball player. Keep working hard at your game and I will be watching. I’m going to miss our “good luck” seating arrangement because it has been a great year with you.
Tim – It has been great to get to know you the last 3 years. Keep busting ass on the boards and helping the team. Best of luck to you next year!
Freeman - Even though you may belong up above with the seniors, thanks for transferring to our program and helping us out. You’re a great kid and it was fun to get to know you. Kick some ass next year and make that 5th year count!
Joe – Big Joe, oh what a great year it has been! You are a great kid with an even greater work ethic. Keep up the work on your game because you have definitely improved. It’s going to be fun watching you play next year.
Mike – I has been a fun two years with you. It has been great to get to know you because you are such a great kid. I wish you the best of luck in your remaining years
Palmer – It has been awesome to get to play alongside a player such as you. You have been very fun to watch the past two years. Keep working your ass off and playing hard. Best of luck to you next year.
Josh – It has been a fun two years. I’m glad that you busted your ass so that you could play with us again this year. Best of luck next year and keep up that work ethic.
Tom – Tommy Gores. King of Lourdes. Keep working hard on that floor. It has been a great opportunity to get to know you the last couple of years. Good luck to you next year.
Finally, I’d like to thank both Coach Todd and Kevin. Thanks for coming in to this school and starting us towards the direction of success. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to play under both of you, because I know that I have definitely learned a lot. Best of luck to both of you as you continue to direct our team towards success in the future.
To Coach Biebel, thanks for your support the last two years and all your help on and off the court. It has been a great opportunity to get to know you and have you as my coach.
To Coach Adam, thanks for your support and always attending our games. Best of luck to you in your future with Saint Mary’s
To our managers Matt and Jake, thanks for all your help this year helping us run our practices and games. You guys don’t know how useful you were to us. Thanks for your time and your friendship.
To Bill and Mary, thank you for all your help with the injuries I accumulated throughout my career. You both were very helpful in everything that you do.
To Coach Trewick, thank you for recruiting me and giving me the chance to play and experience college basketball. I wish you the best of luck to you in the future.
To all of those I failed to mention, I apologize, but thank you for your support and help throughout my college career.
