Andrew Bids Farewell

My time here has been very memorable and I will carry these experiences with me. I value all of the opportunities I have been given and all the friendships I have made. It has been an honor and a privilege to have been a Cardinal for two and a half years. My one regret was that I did not get to spend a full four years with you guys. I will always remember the first day as part of the team when you guys tried to kill me by going on a 45 minute bluff run! Thanks for welcoming me into the team and making me feel part of this family.

Coach Winecke- I appreciate the opportunities you have given me as a member of the Saint Mary’s baseball team. Thank you for all your time and effort. Thank you for never allowing me to settle for just good enough and pushing me out of my comfort zone. It has made me a tougher competitor and has taught me a lot.

Coach Jacobsen- Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the team and pitching staff. Your belief in me and support of me has helped tremendously. Just a warning that Rew, Bogie, Gary and I will beat you in the golf tournament, so don’t be shocked when it happens.

Mom & Pops- Well, my competitive baseball career is winding down and it will soon be time to switch the baseball with a softball! Thank you for all of your support and encouragement through all my baseball endeavors. You have always made the effort to watch every game you could and I definitely value your commitment to me and baseball. I certainly appreciate everything you have done for me. Katie and Claire thanks for always thinking I am number one! I am very excited to watch you grow up and give you the same support.

Erica- Thank you for always having time to support me throughout my baseball career. Also thanks for putting up with the late practices and understanding what a time commitment baseball was. Oh yeah, and thanks for suggesting that class for me to take, it was lots of fun.

Rew- It has been a fun 3 years. Your friendship is something I value greatly. All the long nights of studying on 4th floor, the numerous games of The Show, a little venting here and there and, of course, the baseball games have made my time here definitely enjoyable. I hope one day you will be able to tell me the answer to “What goes on?”

Scooter- Oh boy, what to say. Thanks for being my partner in crime and stealing all those signs. You have made my time on the team an awesome experience. Also you are welcome for all the times I let you beat me in The Show, NBA Live and of course those couple of games of one on one! You are a great friend and I wish you success in whatever you chose to do next in life.

Lechner- Your drive, hard work and competitiveness is unbelievable. Thank you for all your dedication to the team. It has been an honor to play on the same team as you. And after being your roommate for a year I now know how to translate mumbling into English. It has been a fun year at 785!

G-Baby- You definitely know how to keep things fun and positive. You are a great friend, we definitely have had our share of fun together. Thanks for teaching me the perfect chip shot in the locker room. And you have without a doubt educated me on some very important life skills on the bus. It has been a pleasure to play with you Chiefy.

Joe- You were always ready when your number was called and that is a trait I admire greatly. I wish you the best in whatever you pursue next in life.

Timmons- I have never meet someone who ate so many seeds and could run the Cardinal Club out of pizza! Our career as teammates is nearing its end but then we get to be opponents when the Tigers will probably be beating the Wolves a lot. It has been fun being a fellow pitcher.

Bogie- Thanks for coming back to the team this year, your talent and leadership were an integral part of the team. Your passion for baseball was contagious and definitely motivated me. You are the ultimate competitor on the mound and your determination will make you successful in all that you do. Thanks for being a great teammate and friend.

Scotty- Your dedication of time to help the team was greatly appreciated. Your upbeat positive attitude was always a joy to be around. You the man Scotty!

Curt, Max and Servy- Thanks for all those innings you have caught, balls you have blocked and pitches you have called. I appreciate the time you dedicated to catch bull pens and help me become a better pitcher. I wish you all the best of luck in the remaining seasons and know that while we may not show it all the time the pitchers appreciate all you do for us.

To the rest of the team- Thanks for all your hard work and dedication. You have made this season a pleasure and an enjoyable year of baseball. Do not take these few years of baseball for granted. Value the friendships you have made with teammates. Leave everything on the field because you never want to look back and say what if. Appreciate the time you get to spend as a team and never let each other settle for just good enough. Be proud to say you are a member of Cardinal baseball.
