A Word from Pitching Coach Pat Jacobsen

A Word from Pitching Coach Pat Jacobsen

Chris Bogie
In my years as a coach, I have yet to see a player with the grit and determination that Chris possesses. His junior year, Chris would always bug me about wanting to throw a bullpen and get on the hill for us, without knowing him that well, I was never sure if he was joking, but this year has proven Chris to be a very valuable member of our pitching staff! Chris is willing to throw all day if it helps his team, that selflessness is backed up by a hardnosed attitude on the mound that has allowed Chris to be very successful in his senior season. His willingness to make adjustments throughout the season, and his consistent work ethic will be missed dearly!

David Timmons
David is one of the most coachable young men I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with! David has really grown in his ability to throw at a high level, through his work and knowledge of the adjustments he needs to make throughout a game. David has dedicated his senior season to becoming the best pitcher he can be, and that has been proven with his improved command, and his leadership role within the staff! With some of the best stuff on the staff, David has been a valuable member, and has worked to not only make himself better, but our entire staff.

Gary Seifert
One of my best memories from this season was watching Gary get his first collegiate win at Cornell! Gary went thru some tough luck losses over the years, and definitely deserved to get that win a lot sooner than he did, but all that hardship has developed Gary into an extremely strong pitcher in the MIAC. Gary has made very large leaps in his pitching this season, and a lot of that is because of his gaining fearlessness on the mound. We will have very large shoes to fill (literally) upon Gary’s graduation, both from the aspects of his leadership, and his continuing growth as a pitcher!

Sam Levisen
There are a lot of words that come to mind when I think about Sam, but the most prominent is “heart.” It is amazing to think of what Sam has overcome to be a successful college pitcher, but his day-in and day-out effort is what will stick in my mind after his graduation. Sam has set himself apart as one of the most consistent performers out of our bullpen, and one of the best defensive pitchers in the MIAC. He has really taken on a strong leadership role on this year’s staff, and his ability to not only keep everyone loose, but also focused is such a valuable tool that will allow him to be a great leader after graduation as well.

Andrew Ruf
Andrew has a pitching, and baseball in general, knowledge and maturity greater than anyone I’ve had the pleasure of coaching. It is tough to put into words how valuable Andrew is to our staff. I have every confidence that Andrew will make a wonderful coach in the future! He is constantly working to make himself, and everyone around him better, whether it’s a pitcher or an infielder. In my short time coaching Andrew, I have seen him develop into one of the best pitchers in the MIAC! He has done that through his tireless work ethic, and willingness to dedicate himself into being the best possible pitcher he can be!
